It's pretty simple. Magical weapons go in a straight line and physical weapons arc through a trajectory. If you try them out, you'll see that right away. Magical might be easier to use initially, but can run into trouble in levels with varied terrain. Physical weapons might be a little more difficult to start with, but handle varied level geometry better once you get the hang of them. Can we have some hay for answering your question?
