haha yeah, i suppose, didn't think about that. Only problem is, that the gates aren't indestrucible, although i think i can make them almost indestructible...
That would make the game just...fail....
Without a hyperdrive the game cannot be played - you need it so that you can jump from system to system, to get money, to get new ships, to aquire new technology. Sorry but thats just how it is.
Gates will be added, because it's simple enough. Maybe even the Ori supergate o.O And navigation just....navigate around lol. It goes up on its own by you just going places. Though i might add a station that allows you to buy navigation experience? to cut out some boring flyign time.
It would be kind of silly if you could just start with anyone's ships though... You can only buy them later if you are on good terms with that planets government - which is sort of loyal to the program, and you can steal others ships when you have the skill, which is deffinately loyal to the programme.
Those other ships are easy enough to aquire, just a little patience and skill :)

The people who gave it 1/5 have drastically lowered the average rating, which is annoying but they are entitled to their own opinion i suppose.
I'm still not happy with quite a few of the sprites, but they're not that easy to come by and i can't make sprites because i'm terrible at it lol.
I'll add some stations i think in the next released version that will allow you to do soem quick upgrading.
If it really bothering you then press 'F8' and type 'allknowing' and click the button.
To adhere to stargate ways, the only way to get weapons is to steal them really lol. You attack a ship until it's disabled, but not destroyed, then you transport aboard it (press the transport button on the menu). At first you will only get latinum (money) but eventually you will get enough SG team experience that you'll be able to stela weapons, i have an Aurora class that has 3 drone weapons, Ori beam, and Asgard beam lol (but i can only use 3 at a time)

Don't let it's incompleteness put you off, it's important that this is all vented in this stage of the game.
OK, all comments have been duley noted. The full finished version probably won't be released until late summer this year.
Some aspects of the game cannot be changed, as this game is too heavily reliant on the BM engine...which is a shame.
And yes, at this point a LOT of the deatils haven't been changed, although if it bothers you that much right now then i'll create a plugin. That should solve things for the time being. The first version of this was launched within a community that knows the game all too well so it may be hard for beginners :S sorry.
OK - to answer anymore of these 'White Screen' comments.
Just wait little while, the game is about 9.5mb's and just inside the maximum file upload, just give the game a little while longer to load and it will come on.
