Love the many different puzzle aspects, I'm leaving it at level 11 though because the platforming aspect/maneuverability needs a lot of work. Unfortunately I have no knowledge of how to implement these things so I can't help you there, but I REALLY look forward to playing this again one day in all its polished glory. Despite its flaws I couldn't bring myself to give it a 3, so 4/5 for the ideas and creation, easily a 5/5 when it gets polished and the platforming side sorted out :) Best of luck! Looking forward to it.
Wonderful idea, reminds me of 3D logic but with platforming and a story element. Unfortunately it lags horribly and freezes, other times he's locked mid-jump and if you move him you don't see him move, he just appears where he'd land. 3/5 for now, if it gets fixed I'd love to play it again and give it a higher rating. Please do! :)
Loving the updates, thankyou for listening to us! Loving in particular separate control for music and bell, and that the priests are healing MUCH better now! :)
Liked it, very beautiful and great music, made me feel very nostalgic. 3/5, with a continue feature. maybe even a save/checkpoint system and a way to get health would easily makes this a 5 star game for me. Please don't leave this, it's wonderful!
I've had to save and close the game in the hopes that there will eventually be a sound effect toggle, the alert for the base is driving me mad. For an idle game that's meant to sit in the background, sounds shouldn't interfere with anything else. I've tried right clicking, unmuting and muting the music, but nothing seems to work. If I'm not missing something, please add a mute for the alert as it's a pain. The rest of the game is a great idler, though, especially with the addition of the guy that picks up your loot for you :)
The atmosphere & story were great but not enough for me to finish it, & I enjoy these type of games. The reason being is that there's no sense of direction. If you're going for a 'journey of exploration' that has deaths then there needs to be some kind of markers, checkpoints or visual clues, maybe even a form of map to show where you've been. Falling & going in the wrong direction can be disorientating because everything looks so similar, & it's tedious doing tiny jump-grabs over & over to reach a dead end. Even the NPC's just seem to be set randomly. Only visual cues were the rope-blocks & the beams of light as far as direction goes. This could easily be a 4 or 5 stars but it lacks gameplay substance. I'd give it a 2 but because the atmosphere, story & visuals were so promising I can't bring myself to give it less than 3. Good luck in the future, I hope to see more from you with a better gameplay aspect :) This is just IMHO of course, maybe others like how the exploration is set up.
Loved it, one of the few platformers I've given 5/5 to. Controls were perfect (they might seem a little sensitive but you need it for this) the graphics and music were beautiful, and it presents the kind of challenge I love to feel in a platformer - tricky and makes you doubt yourself, then you get that lightbulb moment of how to do it and with practice you make it, that rare certain feeling of satisfaction you don't get so much in platformers these days. Had the controls not been so wonderful this could have been frustrating, but you did everything right. Loved the humour as well, more please! :)
@densch I'll reply here and message you in case others are having the same problem. There should be a translucent black/grey bar at the bottom of the first screen you see after all the initial loading, and it should have a flashing brown 'LET'S DO THIS!' button (which is the login button) at the centre of it. I also noticed that when it eventually reappeared on mine, the 'thanks for getting us greenlit on Steam' reappeared too, with an image of a globe next to it. I haven't done anything differently, and the day it disappeared it was there as normal earlier that same day, so I have no idea what's going on :/
Decided to check back at random and the button is back! :D In future I'd recommend sending a game message/dev replying to comments so that people know everything is back to normal.
For anyone still struggling with the music puzzle even with the video walkthrough (I'm terrible with numbers so I had to take a screenshot, number the ribs, and then keep pausing it to write the order) then here is the order, with the first rib being number 1 and the last rib being 9. SPOILER: 8 (eight), 7 (seven), 8 (eight) , 7 (seven), 8 (eight) , 3 (three) , 6 (six) , 4 (four) ,1 (one). I wrote it in word form for those that may struggle with numbers. Here they are separately: 8,7,8,7,8,3,6,4,1. Or eight, seven, eight, seven, eight, three, six, four, one. Good luck! :)
I can't understand why this doesn't have more plays, I'm not even a fan of this kind of stealth game but I really enjoyed what I did manage to play (quit after I felt it wasn't for me) Crisp controls, smooth gameplay, fitting, non-repetitive music and a challenging timing puzzle. Just an overall high quality stealth platformer. 4/5 and faved, I hope this gets the recognition it deserves one day, looking at the release date you've had it a long time coming!
I don't know if it's just me, but today the login/let's do this! button isn't appearing at the bottom of the screen anymore. Everything else (music, sounds, video in top right) has loaded fine, but the button to enter the game won't appear for me. I've tried several refreshes, in and out of full screen, waiting for the video to disappear so I know I've given it plenty of time, and it's just not there. The see-through grey bar where it normally appears is still there, if that helps. I've also tried clicking random spots and pressing a few keys, but still nothing.
Just beautiful, I can't imagine the detail that went into making it feel like you're controlling a living, knitted jumper. Has a nice 'zoetrope' feel to it, too. But yeah, as others have said, the gameplay is too simplistic and there's not much to keep you playing other than points, so I'd suggest a level system or an upgrade system to spend our points on (or both! :D) Maybe even some aesthetic upgrades for the deer after unlocking everything else. The music style is nice but I'd suggest adding some other tracks to stop it from becoming repetitive. 4/5 for the potential, look forward to this being expanded on :)
I want to keep playing but my character refuses to jump and phase in the 'z' shaped block near the end of level 6, I've deliberately let the yellow level become activated so that I can practice comfortably without worrying about reflexes, and not matter how I do it, at whatever speed, he just won't jump and shift while jumping from the first 'ledge' within the bottom of the Z.
I went and practiced in other blocks to see if it was my fault or a level glitch, but he will shift several times mid-air within other blocks perfectly.
If I'm missing something please reply, if it turns out to be a bug please let me know as I'm loving everything else and want to carry on :) I won't rate it for now so that you get a fair rating later :)
Just gave it another couple of play-throughs to see all the colour combos after you said you'd make the lights clearer. It's just right, now! :D You managed to make them unmistakable without taking away from the mellow, glowey feel. Great job :) Added it to my playlist and faves for when I feel like a memory game bash. If it was any old Simon remake, I probably wouldn't have, but you show immense promise as a developer when you respond to everyones suggestions and implement the reasonable ones that you agree with. That and you also ask for feedback and take it seriously even if you're not sure how many will play your game. That's rare in devs at the moment. Look forward to seeing more!
Like what you've done with idea of Simon as a basis, the graphics are very smooth (and ooh, shiny!) without the edges of the playing field being distracting, or the lights being offensive on the eyes.
You got the perfect classical balance of having mellow sounds where you can pick up the subtleties in helping you remember orders, while having a sharp sound if you go wrong to zap you out of it, which is a great memory game tool. The sounds perfectly synchronize with the light visual which is very important. My only criticism would be that it's not always clear when the purple lights up. A reset button would also be great for those who aren't doing well with the pattern they're on.
Great comments and suggestions, really pleased you like a different take on Simon. I will make the circles brighter and clearer to see. Good call on the reset button idea, will add.
Thank you
Ok, so it's pretty simple and easy, but it can be a nice refresher between more complex games or to give your mind a breather when you've been over-thinking. Perhaps do 'Advanced' packs one day a a supplemental for the easier games?
+1 on getting the black screen bug, where you load a mission and click continue for it to go to a black screen rather than the level. I'm having to refresh before every mission now, randomly it will load fine but given it doesn't remember what you bought each time you encounter the bug, it's safer to refresh after shopping. It may not sound like a big deal but it's very frustrating now, especially when you just want to enjoy the game. It gets quite deflating when you're doing well, want to just load up a mission, then have to load both preloaders etc. every single time :(
Thanks @CluelessWonder, I thought the red box turning into 1 bolt was a graphical error seeing as I still got a bolt out of it. Would never have known it was meant to be 7, spent ages mousing over everything thinking I was being thick and just not being able to find more bolts, and trying the knife on everything to try and dissemble it for bolts. *sigh* Seeing as you commented this Sept 2014 and it's now Apr 2015 and still not fixed, game flagged :(
Thanks! I thought that the music fit the game. Especially since you need to make a lot of decisions for your moves and the song is called "Decisions".
