I'm terrible at this game and after many failed attempts, I found the best method for me to finally win is one that actually takes care of itself. This is great for me because my game hangs/teleports my character if I fire my gun/switch floors and that cost me lvl 15 a few times. You just put 2 machine guns and 1 laser on each floor. Because they're balanced, you don't have to switch later on, so no doors closing costing you shot time etc. I didn't need to move or fire at all on lvl 15, so, no lag. At the end of lvl 14 I had each laser at lvl 2, all machines at lvl 4 (except for 6 floors, which had the 1st rows at lvl 5. Put weakest on bottom floor as it's easiest) Good luck, if this doesn't help good luck finding your strategy! :)

Really enjoyed this, I thought it was just going to be another Pac-man clone but the story and gameplay are interesting and fun, loved the puns and overall humour :D I must admit I had to give up on level 8's boss fight, the characters reaction times are far to slow to make the challenge enjoyable (character starts to move long after key press when you see enemy overhead), and the un-skippable dialogue made it tedious re-trying. It also really needs a confirmation when hitting escape, I couldn't find a way to pause after trying the usual keys and lost the whole level. (Please also add a pause menu with sound options if there isn't one already) Because I couldn't finish I almost gave it a 3, but gave a 4 because of the effort with art and story, hidden objectives etc. I also loved your 'Famous Paintings Parodies' game. Keep up the good work! :)

Great game. My only complaint is that there's no way (or at least that I can see) to unlock the next set of levels without getting a better time on previous levels. I appreciate the challenge of time medals, but it would be nice if there was a way for slowpokes like me to just play all the levels without worrying about time trials. As I could only play 10 of the levels I felt like I should rate 3, but I enjoyed so much of what I did play that I had to give it a 4 :) Good luck with this and future games, you clearly have a talent here. Hopefully you'll add a mode where you can play all levels without having to do some time trials, or in a future game implement something like that. I will understand if that's not the vision you have for this games/your games, though. Thanks for the fun and challenge! :)

Thank you for your comment! I thought about the limitation for the next stages and just removed them completely. Everyone can now play all levels from the start. People who want a challenge can still do time trials on all levels so i guess it doesn't make a big difference.

Love this idea! :) I do feel that your character moves too slowly for the rate that the bosses fire, though. The first was certainly do-able and fit really well, but I gave up on the second one as it felt like the boss was separate from the the game in terms of speed. I felt like I was getting mowed down instead of facing a challenge. I really do love the feel and idea of this game, though. Keep at it, it might just be me so don't adjust stuff if you and others are happy with it :)

Thanks for the feedback!. The second boss should be doable (I've seen people other than me do it) but it's possible that I made the difficulty curve too steep for some players. I think the third boss is even harder.

Level 32 is a good level for the 'Useful Trolley' (push two buttons with the same trolley) in-game achievement. There may be an easier/earlier level to achieve it on, but it's the first I found and thought I'd share in case it saves others a bit of time :)

Can't get the character to move, directional arrows in the instructions don't appear to work, I tried WSAD but that didn't work either. Spacebar makes the character jump and F1 works, but that's it.

It seems interesting and I'd love to see more, but I can't cope with the weird camera. At best it goes about 3 quarters of a screen above every time I jump, and at worst sometimes it will be on the other side of the map while I'm still trying to jump over a block near the start. It would also be nice if it saved when you entered a new area. It seems like you put a lot of effort in to this so that's why I felt I ought to mention the camera. If you work on that, saving and the gameplay it should be quite a lovely game :)

Mega-belated thanks!! This wasn't supposed to be a public project, but I ended up putting it here for friends to test out, but it's good to have a second opinion from someone unbiased :D I agree that the camera is terrible, and I should lower the difficulty a bit by allowing replays on stages, instead of frustrating people by sending them to square 1 every time they die to the plants. All in all, I'm seriously grateful for your feedback, and I hope to have you play the potential sequel!!

Is there a place to recover back to full health? If not, could we get one please in the main villages? Maybe a stone you touch that zaps you back to full, or a healer for a small fee if you don't want death to be without cost. If you're out of a dangerous area/the thick of combat, I don't see the reason for not having a full health area.

Seems like it could be fun, but I have to agree with Fuzzyfsh - it really needs some alternative mouse controls. I left after the tutorial as it just feels far too tedious. I will gladly come back and play and rate it with alternative controls, perhaps some like Fuzzyfsh suggested. The game itself seems good so I won't rate it for now. I love the level complete sound xD

P.S I'm getting the same bug as Rallik where the yellow triangle blocks become air after they've dissolved. Upon death, they still appear, but you can't land on them. As it doesn't save progress in a world, unfortunately I'll have to do Puzzled Out again if it gets fixed, and due to this I also can't beat the Test Facility (same as Rallik) too :( There is also an embedding error if you try to close the app advert, meaning you have to refresh after every advert as it locks you out due to permissions.

Jump button won't respond, 1/5. Seriously though, this game is incredible. It's one thing to have a certain idea for a game, but to execute it as well as you have? That's a rare and beautiful thing. It's just so SMOOTH. Excellent use of checkpoints, they take out the frustration without removing the challenge. Loving the sassy signposts as well, which at times are rather charmingly helpful with said sassyness ;) Thank you so much for making and sharing this gem of a game. 5/5 (real rating ;) )

I'm encountering a freeze-on-death bug. The levels aren't numbered so I can't say which, but pressing anything & escape doesn't work. It still auto-pauses on focus loss and I can resume, but it just resets the level as frozen. I can refresh & continue on that level, but if I die it freezes similarly. This game is incredible (though very challenging :p) so I hope you can get it fixed. If it's level-specific I can try to describe it-as you enter there's a spike block to the left, with an arrow trap above it, with retractable spikes to the right. At the top left there is another spike block, with more retractable spikes to the right, one square down. The arrow trap shoots past the way to the exit, & the top left spike-block blocks the exit before you bait it. Please feel free to ask if I can supply more info. A level select screen/level numbers would be nice, too :) I'll withhold my rating for now as I feel it wouldn't be fair to give a lower score if the bug can be fixed. Good luck! :)

@WhiteSnakeGames - Wow, thank you for such a detailed response. You are correct, I did mean the ability to start on a particular level/a level select screen. I didn't realise there were only 3 levels, so I can understand your reluctance. However, I really hope this gets the recognition it deserves so you can make an extended with levels version :] Either way, I look forward to your new games as you have a knack for coming up with interesting ideas [Particularly loved '10 seconds' and the idea for 'Hippie Convention Inspection']

This feels well made, I quite enjoyed that :] It felt nice being able to move about instead of just static ship deflecting. I particularly enjoyed the writing style and humour, although I didn't play much I can tell this has quite a character. I think I'd enjoy it more if it was level based, and then have this current mode as optional survival. It really needs a button to pause, I tried the usual ones but nothing worked. I also wasn't too keen on how slowly the ship moves when going back trying to pick up missed goodies. Apart from all that, nice work and I hope you make a level menu one in future :] The music and sound effects, particularly on 'level' complete and failure were quite charming, too.

Hi Fritz b, thanks for your comments. By level based I assume you mean the ability to start on a particular level? If so, I agree, however there are only 3 levels ( + tutorial level), so this seems like overkill in a way as well. If this becomes popular I can make an extended version which would have some form of "checkpoint". Regarding pausing - I agree a pause button would be better - I will try and add one soon. In the meantime you can pause it by clicking outside of the game or tabbing out as this will trigger the pause functionality in the framework I used. I agree with the ship movement - I will look at increasing the base speed to make it possible to "catch up" with upgrades. Edit: Non-powerup speed increased 35% so you can catch up slowly to powerups. Will still need to position carefully. Added paused menu(ish) that pauses the game on ESC or P
