Part 2 of 2: I give the game 3/5 Stars. The game is okayyyyyyy... but it just isn't something I would look forward to playing everyday. Specifically, the thing that makes a game like this good rather than adequate is whether it has a good storyline, and this game's storyline is rather pitiful.
Part 1So, I just got the Medium badge, and it took me 2 days. You are limited in actions by the amount of food you have, which you start off with being given a lot for free at the beginning. You should be able get the Easy badge within the first half hour. The Medium badge is a chore though if you are only playing the game for the badges and took me a full day. To complete the 2nd campaign you need to defeat a Lv. 15 stage, but to win stages after the 1st campaign you really need to have all 4 heroes 2 levels above the level of the stage, so you have to be Lv. 17 (assuming you don't spend Kreds to get one of the packs with a hero and good gear). Easiest thing to do is farm a stages until out of food, wait a hour, farm again, and repeat until you are Lv. 17.
@ballins: I doubt you have been waiting 316,889,554,103,441,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years to find an opponent. Rather, your opponent is loneliness, which is why some people get involved in video games in the first place, and that is you have a game that requires 2 or more players and you are by yourself.
PSA: The current challenge "This Is How We Doeo It: A Building Blocks Challenge" mentioned on https://www.kongregate.com/current_challenges IS NOW WORKING. I got the This Is How We Doeo It Trophy, 10 points, and 20 Blocks.
sirgarbero is correct about their being an exp bar. At the top-center of the game screen their is a bar that is LITERALLY 2 px thick, so it's very easy to miss. It turns white from left to right as you gain exp.
@panetu: To build a 400 meter high word tower, their is a compound trick. The first part of the trick is to realize that the game has a mechanic where you get a bonus multiplier to your height if you re-use either the requirement for the first 3 letters being the same or the last 3 letters being the same. Then here's the real trick. You use a dictionary and while on the ground look for all words that begin with the 3 letter listed on the game when you are on the ground. The timer doesn't start until you enter your first word, so you have time to look them up. If you get a bad combination of 3 letter that a word needs to begin with, then simply exit and re-play the stage. As long as you get 3 beginning letters that many words begin with you can just read off the dictionary and enter words as fast as you can type. I hope that helps.
@suerboi07: As far as I know there are no stages which can be beaten without drawing a line. Then again, I beat the game back on Sep. 13, 2017 according to when I got the My Candy Girl Badge so I might not be remembering right something from nearly 3 years ago.
@trippyhippy75: While this game is easy, badges are given rankings based on both difficulty AND time it takes. Since it takes more than 10 minutes to beat the game that is probably why it is a Medium instead of an Easy badge.
Got on to quickly grab the BotD since I already had gotten the Badge back in 2014. Then I saw that I had not fully beaten the game as I was still missing the "3 Star Mastermind Badge" and said to myself, "Ok, time to finally finish this thing." Btw, my strategy is maxing out the Drone and General upgrades, then spamming drones and upgrading them. The drones keep the heroes from shooting at you as they are busy killing the drones so you can simply wait for passive income to buy more drones until the heroes are overwhelmed and the General upgrades makes it easier to spam mass amounts of towers and gain more money.
I saw that I got the badges back on Sept. 25, 2012 but I couldn't remember the game. I then decided to try Stage 10, and then said in my mind, "Ohhh, NOW I remember this game." It's a good game, but I guess not good enough for me to remember at first glance after nearly 8 years have gone by since I played it.
@grastens: Actually, since Rogue Souls 2 came out 1 day less than a year after this game (this game came out on Sept. 26, 2013 while Rogue Souls 2 came out on Sept. 25, 2014) I think it is more accurate to say that Rogue Souls 2 is like this game since this game came out earlier.
*SPOILER* None of the upgrades in the game will be useful later on, so if you will complete the game quicker by skipping an expensive upgrade so yo can reach 1,000 stars then do so with one exception. You will want to have the Run Faster upgrades. You're going to want to have that maxed out for the running event after you collect 1,000 stars. :)
@PurpleKingCrazy and karimiticos: Technically you can win this game without moving at all and simply keep going through days until you eventually collect 1,000 stars, but it is MUCH quicker to move around and collect them.
@MeckaMecka: That sounds very odd, all the puzzles should be able to be beaten. Can you take a screenshot, upload it to Imgur or some other photo hosting site, and post a link to it so we can look at it?
Wow, it's nice seeing this game being made BotD. One of the best games on Kongregate in my opinion. Just to bad it's taken nearly a decade for the 3rd game in the series to start being developed.
Great... I close the tab and open it back up to play again and I lose all my gems that I'd gained from my previous game. It's annoying when games don't save properly.
I last played this game several years ago but still had the save data with me being on Day 31. However, a lot of stuff seems to have somehow been lost over the years. All the towns besides the town I'm at, called Pastoo in the upper-left, have as their name, technology, climate, hemisphere, and crime as "undefined", while population and all the goods with their prices are "NaN". Anyone else have this issue?
A few things I have to say about this game: First, concerning save data, my save file from 2011 is still working, so as long as your browser is configured to keep Flask cookies you should be able to keep your save date. Second, this IS a logic game. Look for bottlenecks in a level where it is hard/impossible for pieces to travel past, and solve each individual part. Third, and most important, since this game DID come out in 2008, you can easily cheat by using a walkthrough for this game if you are desperate, but you should be able to finish 5 levels without one for the Easy badge unless you are really in a rush and really hate logic games.
Browser doesn't support WebAssembly... What is it with Firefox and not being able to play some of these games? Plus, these games that use WebAssembly when played on other browsers don't have any save data and reset your game progress when the tab is closed. Given these major issues, I don't know why Flash is being phased out when this new software has so many NASTY deficiencies.
Several things I noticed: First, starting with Level 7 you need to make sure you don't collect hearts until after you hit the ground as you can't have more than 3 hearts unless you get the extra heart containers in the later levels. Level 8 requires you to leave the ledge you start on and immediately go left so you don't collect the heart until after you hit the ground. Second, Level 1 and some of the stages with Snail Bob can be beaten with more than one heart left. Third, the bonus level where you reach the nest after Level 23 doesn't allow you to jump even though you hear a jumping noise and see your chick jerk upward slightly so you can't die (there's not even a health bar.) And finally, for some reason the second stage with a heart container gave me 2 extra heart containers instead of one when I first did the stage, but after that I only got one extra heart container.
