It makes me smile the difference in views between age groups. I'm old enough myself to have put money into an asteroid cab and most people my age seem to prefer it to be more like asteroids, whereas everyone younger dislikes the lack of originality. I don't think I could have picked a worse genre to do a homage to ;)
Thanks for the continued great comments, makes it all worth while. @dimblenut yeah all bitmaps @kungfudrinx bosses would have been great but we ran out of time / budget. I doubt we'll do a sequel but if we were to do one then yeah we'd go the whole hog with bosses and multiple weapon upgrades via a shop system. Thanks again guys.
*sigh* I thought I'd fixed that on the last update ( It's where there's an asteroid off screen and it's velocity doesn't allow it to come back on, so it's there, but you can't see it ). Thanks for flagging it up, I'll try and fix it again on the next update.
Fixed version is up, just want to apologise to everyone who got hit by the buggy broken version. @lorienvarden The flockers don't actually damage the ship if they teleport on top of you, in the recent update I've added a shield effect to try and show that more than before, guess it's still not clear enough. The plasma is weighted in that it becomes almost too powerful and the game would just be a race to max that out and then grinding away for a hi-score, so I increase it's reload time and decrease it's range to balance that out. The missiles target the asteroids as they are the primary target, the baddies are just there to break things up. Thanks for the thoughtful feedback and taking the time to play it.
@tommy9898 lol, yeah it's pretentious, there's just no talking to it now it's on Kong. On NG it was fine, but now it's somehow fallen up it's own arse of self importance. Damn the game to hell for giving an option so people on slower machines can still enjoy it, and as for not trying to overwhelm anyone by shoving too much text at them in one go, well it should burn shouldn't it.
@Jessekruz, what the hell ? How could you even think it's stolen ? The big GYW logo at the end of the preloader, the gyw logo in game, the newsfeed that has gyw news ? cheers inferno11 for pointing that out. golumciano, some great ideas mate. A baddie spawning on you doesn't cause you any damage, but I've not made that clear. Some work ahead of me for v1.2 :)

@trem It is just asteroids mate, I didn't want to add any more depth ( Hence no shop for example ) as it is what it is.

@camille It's not a bug. The missiles only home in on asteroids, so if there aren't any they've got nothing to lock on to, so there's no need for the game to fire one
I think hazard mode should remain locked, it provides an incentive for further play ( Unless of course you're playing it on a laptop or get bored after 8mins, then nothing is going to save it ;) )
I don't get it, is a game bad because it's a clone ?
This is a pretty good and fairly accurate port of GWars, and so as a game to play ( Rather than a game to be judged on it's originality, or lack of ) it works well.
If Stuv had tried to pass it off as his own idea, then fair enough, flame away, but he's said it's a clone and so isn't seeking kudos for originality, or graphics, just gameplay.
Xelenai, I am the dev of this game. It already runs on low quality as all the assets are bitmaps rather than vectors, so there is no need for me to provide the option.
The speed issues you are having may be due to playing the game in FF rather than IE, the chat window and ads on this page don't help performance either, or it may even just be your pc.
To ensure the performance is good for every machine and every browser would mean restricting the game a lot, both in terms of the size of the scrolling window and the number of on-screen sprites.
That's too great a compromise I'm afraid.

As to the homophobic posters, doesn't gameplay matter at all ? I'm guessing not.
Perhaps if it was zombies fighting ninjas it would have done better.

I know it's not the deepest game in the world, it was written to be just a quick five minute coffee break game. If you want to switch your brain off for a little while and shoot cute things then it's pretty good imho, although it's really not anything more than that.
Hypersonic, I think the chat box is cycle stealing from the game, causing it not to run as smoothly as if it was the only swf running on the page.
