Instead of thinking your main goal is to collect the cubes, think of it as your main goal is to dodge the pillars and not to collect the cubes. Stay toward the middle, focus on dodging pillars and only collect cubes when you barely even have to move to get them. It will take a long time because you are mostly depending on the auto point gain but it will make it a lot easier.
