The "restart with x skeletons" bonus is useless, seeing as how the game acts as if you bought them, and thus scales up the cost of additional skeletons, instead of having the skeleton bonus and the cost being as if you had 0 skeletons purchased.
Whenever you upgrade a weapon, it halves your attack speed until you refresh. And when you refresh, your exp bar goes back to 0 at that level, and all of your items in your inventory vanish.
