2 of 5 stars. Neat concept, nice animations and graphics, but the gameplay is lacking. The strategy, aside from your assignments, remains the same every level.
Sooo funny! It brings back memories, yet the humorous parodies mocking the original Oregon Trail are the icing on the cake--Random diseases/misfortunes you have no way of avoiding or remedying, terrible hunting control, lack of instructions, etc.
My only critique would be to keep the artwork consistent. The yeti-monster, for example, would maintain the feel of the game if it were more blocky and less detailed.
To those who don't like the game: you'd have to have grown up playing the original Oregon Trail to truly appreciate it. Perhaps that should be included in the description or an introduction in order to avoid people critiquing it or taking it for a modern game.
Has this game been changed recently? It ran smoothly a while ago, however, now it seems to lag for a few seconds before looting treasure, getting into an encounter, and exploring new areas. It might be just me, but it doesn't happen when I play Monster's Den 1.
