Bugs (in my opinion): 1) Scuba divers often pick up gems while feared, I don't think that should be possible (happens a lot on level 20). 2) Iron guards' invisibility duration stops counting down while turned into a chicken -- I think it should be simultaneous timers to allow counter-play.
"Give me one good reason why I would go Frosty Crypt way instead of Dreadful Crypt"
--> Basically if they're not in a great position, at least the final upgrade for Icy crypt gets great range boost. Also the freeze aoe stun is great, and these towers are quite useful against the flying robots (can't be feared)
Tower updates for anyone who never really looked at the encyclopedia:
Orc towers: across the board moderate DPS nerfs, except for bunker den which got about 30% DPS increase (now far & away best DPS tower). Rocket den nerfed particularly hard, almost halved its DPS in exchange for a bit more splash.
Undead towers: minor / basically no changes. These were & still are mainly utility and not damage in this game.
Undead towers: basically across the board 20%-50% DPS nerfs. Overseer(laser) towers were least hit, and also got range buffs. Inferno(aoe) towers got biggest nerfs with no buffs, they're just niche usefulness now. Beholder/Ifrit both have decently nerfed DPS in exchange for range. Basically undead towers should feel a lot more like sniper orc towers.
Sorry update to previous comment: turns out it's just way more important to use your first 3 skill points in the lower tree for +1.5% damage and then use meteor twice (neither were important before update).
@Kyudos: You really missed the idea with this game if you're playing just to feel more powerful by getting leveled up. The challenge with the CT games is to try to beat all the levels with as low player level as possible (least upgrades). And if you were already maxed on upgrades at lvl 16 then you must have replayed a ton of levels already because you can brilliant the original game (15 stages) and be under lvl 30. But I agree the level design tanked with the new stages where you just have to max upgrades and still play multiple times to get lucky for brilliant on some levels.
Can anyone beat lvl 16 daymode at rank 28? (lowest rank possible at that point) Seems like the level design just went nuts at that point and you have to have farmed up your skill points.
Nice into to this game that the first day of the card challenge was august 10, which is harder than any other map I've found. Definitely trial by fire but stuck with the game and really enjoy it
@mmelling77:
Not sure what the walkthrough is really going for, but the key to lvl 12 challenger is to use all those straight lines with the beam upgrade.
Basically just fastforward through the level after the initial setup and buying a 2nd beam after you kill one enemy. Ending shot is one corrupt away from complete (only spell used, and not necessary if I spent the last memory on anything)

The Beam upgrade was added after the walkthrough was made due to the difficulty some people had with that level. It's definitely possible without the Beam upgrade though.
Thanks for the quick response & fix Kurechii. For anyone following, now you have at least 6 months to beat the king (may be more, never tried longer) before having your score penalized, instead of starting the first month. Based on the number of 10,000 scores since that patch (and only 2 before, during the bugged versions), that was one way to fix the blockage. Maybe in the future you could figure out a way to make high scores competitive, but at least people can now get SSS. Thanks!
I could 100% the upgrades, territory, and unique units by about year 2, month 4, with only one unit upgraded to level 10. But for me it was then impossible to beat the king in such an underleveled state no matter what setup I tried. I had to wait 2 more months of income (year 2 month 6) in order to upgrade a second unit to level 10 and beat the king, still having ~1000 resource score. But by then I'm detracted 280 points for taking too long and/or not having the last 3% achievement (SSS rating), and end up 9710 SS rating.
If unwilling to take another stab at better game design in the scoring, at least drop the SSS requirement significantly (8500 or 9000), so people can 100% the achievements and then play for high scores with the last monthly income title.
Tweaks have been made for the calculations of the final rating, a few requirements have actually been loosened up. The SSS rank achievement does NOT influence in the missing score, as it is directly included into your achievements when other requirements have been fulfilled.
It does not appear possible to get SSS without any bug abusing. Having leftover resources as part of the score is frankly amateurish game design; it's not intuitive or a fun way to play to put off finishing the game until you have 1000 resource score, and it's directly against time taken to finish the game (which detracts from your score).
To anyone trying to powergame this for a high score and/or SSS rating, you basically have to forego leveling your units with crystals (the most fun RPG aspect here) in order to have enough to spend on maxing the unit upgrades (which are part of the high score randomly) and still have enough to sit in your inventory for resource score by the end (gold * 2/1000 + crystals * ~1.36).
Hello, there is a cap to the bonus score granted by leftover resources. So, if even if a bug is abused, it does not automatically mean a sure track to getting SSS rank.
Bug: If you lose against the dragon or king on the day immediately after getting a monthly income, you get the monthly income again because the day/turn 'restarts'. You can keep doing this in perpetuity (or whatever soft limit there is on crystals/gold) without passing any time in-game.
Just got #24 score all-time (9596), based on 816 resource score (from maybe 100k & 500 crystals), hard mode, 2Y 4M. Still that was only good for SS rating. Is SSS only possible with even further cheating?
The Beam upgrade was added after the walkthrough was made due to the difficulty some people had with that level. It's definitely possible without the Beam upgrade though.
