I expected the badge to be harder than it was. The songs do get a lot easier pretty quickly with practice. Hexiompossible, Line Flyer, and Immaculate Desk are all harder IMO.
Thanks to the dev for padding out the end of each song for the API version so I could actually hit the last note before the song cut off =P
Impossible badge: roll it over and over and over and over again until you get one with a lot of locked tiles, many holes in the board, and very few blank spaces. Then go to town.
Curved lines might be fun if you could decide how they curve, or at least have some visual indicator of how you can expect them to curve as you move them around. As it is, they just sort of randomly curve with no apparent rhyme nor reason, which is really, really not fun.
This is the best badge game in a long time and one of the best 3 or so games on Kongregate period. And I say that after playing through it for long enough to get all the damn badges!
It's a shame people are rating this down just because they haven't figured out how to play it well yet =/ My only complaint is that the "hard" badge isn't very hard. It should at least be for completing hard mode.
Tip: constantly move in one direction and never buy engines. I was holding W and D for almost the entire game except to pick up ether. I would occasionally move to dodge an enemy that was sticking right on me (like the little blue ones that shoot white bombs), and for the final boss I just hung out in the middle and got out of the way when it was headed straight for me. With this strategy I found the game very easy. The only hard part was the first level with red enemies in hard mode, and it would have been much easier if I had remembered to spend a few points on shields before then.
Well, I'm done with this. It's a very good game, but it's a waste of my time trying to get perfects on everything, because half the songs end before the last note. You have to hit the last note well before it actually comes so the song doesn't cut it off. I've had enough frustration trying to do this.
One small complaint: medium mode is just a bit too easy compared to hard mode ;)
The secret to hard mode, apart from extremely careful placement, appears to be spamming road spikes to deal with black bloons. I got to level 41 and would have gotten at least a couple levels further but I wasn't able to spam spikes fast enough. Requesting some way to place multiple of the same tower without going back to the menu.
Here's a tip: upgraded boomerangs are amazing. I sold all my regular monkeys and replaced them with boomerangs around the time black bloons became commonplace and finished medium mode easily on the first try. I got a supermonkey for the last 2 levels, but before that it was all bombs and boomerangs (and a few ice towers).
Great game!
I had the same problem as bigkillab on 38, which was especially annoying since it's the only level (as far as I can tell) where you can get stuck when this happens. I ended up leaving the boxes in the middle room and taking them through by hand one at a time.
Xtholos: I found 36 to be the hardest level. Once you get on the box in the middle, you need to shoot a blue portal at the lower right wall, then shoot under yourself with a yellow portal, then very quickly shoot up through the gap with another yellow portal, then jump backward through the blue portal. Acrobatics! And then once you do that it's still very easy to get killed by a turret. >.<
One key point that isn't obvious is that if you overlay too fields in the same spot with the same direction you get twice the gravity. This helps out a LOT on Doubleplus Uneasy.
fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally got the badge
Turns out the secret to level E with the keyboard is just practice, practice, practice. And a whole lot of patience for all the times you make it through the big circle but die later on something easy.
