To expand on Dragice's post on how they come out so quickly, this could have also been done earlier, and released now to get more from the kongregate competition. This is a wise move for the developer, as they have to put bread on the table as well.
Tried again today to get a metal. Equal number of metal and beast, 10 plant, and it gives me the freaking plant. I want to enjoy this game, but the random element here means I cannot control what I want to do. Makes it frustrating if you are going for a certain goal. One idea for this, would be to make certain seeds more prevelant on different games. The beast seed is obviously very prevelent in the first third of the game, which makes it horribly tough to get the beast I want. If it could be changed so sometimes plant and metal were more prevelent, it would be a lot less frustrating.
Gah! I went out of my way, to make sure there was a 70% chance for metal, 12 for beast, and 18 for leaf, and I got the freaking beast. Did not want since you get so many of those ones. >.<
While I haven't gotten too far, I have already found a small complaint. When coming out of a new invention, which rudely forces you out of the game for a moment, I come back swarmed already (That is how I left it,) but unable to protect myself as they start to rape me. I now am holding a new weapon, and not pointed in the same direction as the zombies most times, so an immediate shot wont work.
It is extremely rare that I downrate games, as this should be a 5 out of 5, but with my team of 5 (1 barbarian, 1 tank, 1 longbow archer, 1 javelineer, and 1 healer), I cannot beat the black knight when all of my characters need 10k to be upgraded. I will not spend my time grinding out that gold, only to find I still wont win. I have no desire to.
I really like the shift in gameplay. It started as a gather/murder for cash to upgrade, then shifted into a survival once I was high enough level. The shift in getting powerups was great too. Started with gems and fireflies, then shifted to lazers and speed.
Very smooth, worked very well.
You certainly captured the idea of Shadow of the Colossus! I loved the feeling that I was this tiny, unremarkable creature, jumping around these massive colossi to find their weakpoint. Love that sense of being tiny compared to everything else.
Hahaha xD I used time stop on the dragon on level 10, and it stopped him when he was high in the air. So, all my units went UNDERNEATH him and proceeded to rape the mostly unguarded castle. <3
So, how do I actually use an item? I'm trying to get to the water temple, and I have the oxystuff, but I don't know how to use it from my inventory to get the breathing skills. Please toss a shout on my userpage if you know the answer.
How do you split items? There seems to be a bug where if you have a stack of 2 items, you can't equip it to anyone, so how can I break it down to 1 item?
The stupid final boss is so tough for me. Not because it can hit me. In fact, I can go unhitable except for every so often, one will catch me and throw me off the platforms ot my death. Hate this. Great game. Hate this.
My only suggestion is not to get as many doubles of the legendary items. I realize, at some point, people are going to stock up, but I had a room with 3 legendary's, and got 2 oger boots and a greater water charm. Of this, this is my third oger boot and second charm. >.> I'd like to get my eye of intelligence someday please.
I'm on 27, restarted for nearly 45 minutes. I can usually overtake red just fine, but by then, yellow has amassed 400 or so units and takes me one by one.
