Though I can get over the grueling energy system, something that's really getting old is the evolve mechanic. Starting at level 9, you are required to find a duplicate of a hero to sacrifice in order to progress the hero to 10, two duplicates at level 19, three at 29, and so on. Having to dump a massive amount of currency for packs that each give the possibility of a random hero out of an ever increasing pool of heroes becomes frustrating to say the least. It serves only to artificially and unimaginatively extend the game. Until mechanics like this are changed, I am forced to give an otherwise enjoyable game a one star rating and warn away others from wasting their time on it.
