Unlike most video games the hitboxes here are precise to the pixel. Instead of using squares that may not fit the "hitboxes" are shaped entirely like the objects and not really hitboxes at all. More like hittable-irregular polygons.
Forgive me for being daft, but I don't understand what you mean! :P Does the bird sometimes fly through you, or do you stay in the air when you run out of wax?
Yeah, I noticed that too. I'll see if there's a way to keep father hard to avoid but not impossible, because without Daedalus at all it's pretty easy.
I find that with Daedalus it's kind of a push to sacrifice some of your 'wax' to avoid him, which you can build up later.
