I love it; everyone is +ing the comments related to how overly difficult it is to play, and yet it has a 3.56 start rating because they want the badges. Why rate it high if you don't like it?
For some reason, I cannot shake the notion that the title of this game is a nod to most programmer's first program, the "Hello World!" program. It's a simple program that shows the coder how to set up a program from scratch, and how to output/debug a simple text message. Am I close or am I just digressing over here? :P
I enjoyed the game very much. Got the 25,000 score, and entered into the drawing. I hardly see how anyone can say that Kongregate is "selling out". They offered a drawing of a gift certificate, that is non-obligatory to sign up for. Moreover, I do not see White Castle advertisements plastered all over the place; I do not see pop ups or an overabundance of banner ads. Hosting this many games on a server has got to cost Kongregate some money, and considering that they have continually updated and upgraded their system, completely free of cost to the user, mind you, I am surprised we do not see more advertising all over Kong!
The art style (8-bit) reminds me of "Karoshi" and "Super Karoshi"; the gameplay reminds me of "Achievement Unlocked". However, this game has a pleasant blend of the puzzling/platforming aspects.
I give it 4/5, it's a semi-original game, but some levels are a bit too vague. I enjoy the challenge, but not if they are impossible!
Only two problems I have: Pirates can be insanely hard to hit, it's near impossible to get good ratings on a few of the levels. Some will go down pretty quick, and some will go in, grab a gem, and escape without losing any hit points >.< Ninja bosses are hard, but do-able; I like the challenge on them. Also, why does this game not have badges yet? Get to it, Kong!
I agree with pretty much everyone that has posted here. The controls are horrid, mapping multiple actions to a single key is a bad idea to start. The game seems more trial and error than actual skill or lateral thinking. I am opposed to sponsored games getting special treatment (in this case, badges) especially when so many other great, fun-filled, challenging games have to go without. I say either make all games badge-worthy, or be honestly selective. This game has a 3 star (2.93 as of this writing) rating, and yet it has 20 points of badges? I do not agree nor do I like.
Game is bad, badges on a sponsored game is bad. Please do not do again!
Game is short, and agree with CaptainSpaulding with the tiny, nearly impossible to see idea. It kinda sucks the fun out of the game a bit, which is a shame for the amount of work that obviously went into this. It's one of those games where you can spot the major differences, and most of the smaller ones, but there are always 1 or 2 per level that you just click and click and click rapidly to find.
3/5
Only problem I have with it is the hit detection on the pistols is way low. I understand they are supposed to be inferior to other weapons, but when i have my sight directly over an enemy's body and am furiously click on it (wasting valuable ammo) it does get frustrating.
Took 5 shots and quit. Too hard to control balls, it's a blatant rip-off of a popular game ("Hey, Crush the Castle is doing really well, let's clone it!") and all in all I was unimpressed. Please, developers, at least tweak or upgrade your games from previous, well-known versions, unless you are doing a throwback to an older arcade game. Then you can keep the crappy graphics and horrid controls intact :-D
I love the dialogue:
"No need to sorry, just keep it up, ok?"
:D Great twist on an old game (style), I found the controls to be a bit different that normal, but now that I have the hang of them (took me about 2-3 levels) it's awesome. Addictive game, gave it 5/5
