@brainisdead: the tongue goes wherever you click on the screen with your mouse so that is the best way to tell. Thanks for the feedback though!
Thanks to everyone else as well for leaving your thoughts and feedback! It is good that most are finding it silly and fun which was the intention.. just a nice and humorous little time killer for a bit. :)
@bakerej: I've sent you a whisper to get more info from you as I can't reproduce this problem nor have I had other reports about that yet.
@others: thanks for playing and your feedback!
Just posted my latest game! I hope you all enjoy it. I've managed to support the Kongregate Achievements system as well so I'm pretty excited about that. Good luck.
Hadn't posted here in a bit.. just wanted to say thanks to everyone else who left comments and feedback after the prior time I commented below. I appreciate hearing your thoughts. I do have another game I just finished yesterday but I am seeking sponsorship so it will likely be a bit before I can release it here. Anyway, it is nothing like TurnStyle and isn't a puzzle game. Anyway, I do have some ideas I've been building regarding a worthy and fun sequel to this game so stay tuned.... ;)
what is up with the flying death-shurikens? Those damn throwing stars make the game very annoying when I otherwise was enjoying myself pretty good. Not only can you not seem to kill them.. on level 5 or 6 or so I had like 4 or 5 of them all around me all the time. Seems a bit out of balance and is ruining the experience for me. Aside from that I enjoyed the levels and the game play during the first 4 or 5 missions anyway.
awesome game Terry ! I remember seeing screenshots of this one for awhile over in the tig forums and maybe even from the minimalist compo on LD awhile back. Nice to see this finally come to fruition!
Would dig this a lot more if I had level restart. As is it will really limit the replayability to higher levels. I also have a zombie tag game so it is interesting to see the difference in how you implemented some of the mechanics. Even though the character graphics are circles it doesn't seem to detract too much. I also like the speed differences and that you can slowly push the humans out of the way.
Part 2/2
Re: "my first Flash game.." comments please understand that while this is my first Flash game that does not mean I have not made other non-Flash games or other games in general. Hope that helps you "get it" as to why it would seem at odds. Also, I probably spent 150-200 hours on this game in February total. About 50+ hours was just on creating the story, illustrating, coloring, breaking into the puzzles etc. The rest was learning Flash, ActionScript, Photoshop etc.. :P
Re: "I got really frustrated when I couldn't remember which nob did what" - That is intentional part of what adds the "memory game" component to achieving a truly top score on this game. Even if you use the walkthrough video, you will still have to remember and be efficient with the nobs (I call them handles.. heh) in order to place well.
This is going to be huge comment but I wanted to respond to everyone.. sorry if this overwhelms this window!
Take care everyone and thanks again.
Part 1 of 2 -First of all, thanks for all the feedback everyone! It is great to see the comments / thoughts you have all had when playing.
I'm completely new to Kongregate and this whole posting of / making of Flash games thing so bare with me as I figure out what to do here. :)
Let me hit the following themes:
Re: "Level 7" - I am definitely hearing the comments that this level poses some of the hardest challenge and frustration. I understand and am considering increasing the hint layer to show a tiny bit more clues to help with the placement of the mountains and ship layer.
Re: the walkthrough video: I am flattered that someone cared enough to create a youtube walkthrough of my game. :) I personally am not a big user of walkthroughs as I believe it can spoil the challenge I look for but I totally understand if people want to use them and why they can be helpful when you can't get past a level and you really want to see what is next.
the blind spots caused by the ship's main gun are a little tough. meaning it is impossible to shoot a lot of the aliens near the bottom. small thing though. I enjoy the humor of the text and as someone who also did the shootorial I appreciate how you modified the graphics and really buffed up the complexities of the boss.
Thanks for the feedback and ratings everyone. This is my first Flash game and I'm definitely interested in hearing all you have to say. Thanks again for your plays and ratings!
