Great game Rete! This is definitely an interesting new take on the whole TD scheme. But there was just one flaw that seemed to really catch my attention. As you get into about round 5 or 6 you start to have to backtrack into previous levels several times in order to upgrade skills to be able to beat each level. Like HoopleDoople stated above, you should give fixed rewards after each initial victory, and smaller rewards every time you beat your previous best on each level. Also, you should get some money every time you max out a skill, giving you an incentive to max everything out (other than becoming all powerful). Just a matter of over-difficulty in terms of constant backtracking is all. Just some suggestions.
The only problem with this game is that as far as armor/weapons go, there is always one or two armors that are just better. You should make it more decision-making-like where there are several armor/weapon choices with the same damage/defense but each with different advantages and disadvantages. I like being able to choose different specifications for my characters. With EBF4 there should just be more RPG type things.
Wow, these guards are slow. I killed their boss right in front of him, so he turned around, saw his dead body and started chasing me yelling "He can be dangerous!"

After you beat however many rounds are in the actual game, Free-Play is the best thing :D by round 75 you can level up at least 4-5 levels and get a hold of the Mega Upgrades >:) Which are.... mega.
