the secret upgrade is a slap in the face of the player in an attempt to get a laugh for the developer. Also each run is fairly boring. cannon games are a fairly simple-minded genre, but this managed to be pretty awful anyway.
I haven't even played the game yet, but I know exactly what the entire experience will be. all Nerdock games are the same. If you like them, great!, if you don't...repeating disappointment.
I consider myself a TD aficionado, and I don't give out a 5/5 rating lightly, but this game deserves it. The one thing that most TD's fail so frequently at is balance. Coresector has achieved a near-perfect balance, mostly by keeping the scale of each level small. Which also keeps the game from becoming a senseless grind. Each level is like an individual puzzle, and there's enough progress going through the campaign and unlocking new abilities that it stays fresh right up to the end. The only thing I might add is a pause button...but then I think about it, and no, I wouldn't really want one, the game is wounderfully paced without it.
it felt like I was watching a poetry reading with some yuppie in all black spandex and a black beret reading a non-rhyming sonnet about what a horrible person I am....well SCREW YOU HIPPIE!
"Okay, due to an unprecedented positive reaction (thanks!) I might finish this in the future.
Here are some FINISHED games that were released this week that I think you should play:
http://www.kongregate.com/games/robotJAM/flaming-zombooka
http://www.kongregate.com/games/Xplored/zombies-in-the-shadow (this has lighting too!)
http://www.kongregate.com/games/LongAnimals/drift-runners-2 give it a chance! If you find it hard keep at it, this is how games all used to be when I was young!"
NO! I don't want to play those games, those games SUCK! I want to play THIS GAME! This game is good!!!
Very nice, several elegant mechanics done very well. There is a singular word that can make almost any game great in almost any genre. That word is Polish, and this game has it. Now if it had more levels with just as much polish...
Kudos to a developer who only marks your scores/saves as "cheats" when you hack it. as opposed to some who just crash the game on you intentionally....(I'm looking at YOU berserk studios...jerks). 5/5 for letting me enjoy the game my own way.
