Actually, no they don’t. Good question! Just Light Carriers, Fleet Carriers, and Super Carriers. Frankly, the upgrade makes them rather terrifying. They will periodically release a new wave of fighters, about every 10 seconds I THINK, don’t know.
Carriers of all types are your best friends in this game. The game will lag a bit, but there’s no stopping 2-3 Starports (the BIG shipyards with 4 guns) with Super Carriers.

I’ve never seen a blackhole in my first playthrough, and suddenly I’m facing every other level as a black hole. :D The game is quite different each time.
