This...THIS...is a fairly fun game.
A most enjoyable 20 minutes, got all badges, and the sense of exploration was nicely done. A rather in-depth game considering the exploration needed, and only a couple of times did I get into a situation where it's like "where the hell do I go now?" only to find DERP, I didn't double-jump all the way or somethin' like that. Overall, an enjoyable game, 5 star, and worthy of a sequel!
Okay, this doesn't even deserve a comment.
Not that that's a BAD thing, mind you...in this case, I can't review it as a game since it fulfills only, like, TWO concepts of a vidyuh gaem. The rest of it is all interactive flash. The style is very nicely done, and after I stopped freakin' out over the fact that while you slow down during movement, time slows down so you can play catch up and shield the weak humans from the miserable humans puny armaments.
Now, the story...that is, the message it gave. Yeah, yeah, yeah, humans are scum, blah blah blah. I'd really like to play a game with a message that DOESN'T, y'know, go along the lines of "War is stupid. Humans are stupid for committing wars. Humans are dumb and wars are dumb," and, perhaps, oh I don't know...actually gave an uplifting message? "Sure humanity sucks, but there might be hope for them yet" or somethin' along those lines.
I try to give every game a chance, y'know?
...in this case, no. Just, no. This game is so lacking in the fun department. This game is not fun. This game makes me rather unhappy, even.
You get a 1/5 for making a game that is not fun and does not make people happy.
This should be fundamental rule number 1 in game-making.
Make it fun, and make others happy.
Okay, gonna give this a second run...but still, I gotta ask: why does stress still have to be so stressful? Why can't we get a little stress taken off for defeating monsters, y'know? Also, why are we still limited to only one arm...why not dual wielding weapons, or weapon and shield? Just sayin', a sequel SHOULD be a sequel, y'know what I mean? Other then that, this Tamagotchi the RPG vidyuh gaem is still pretty fun. Plus I love the expanded opening, though the ability to freely pick and choose stats would've been far more rewarding. Still worth a play though, 5/5 if yer into this sorta thing, 3/5 if yer not.
Huh. Now that I'm over Bonus Map idiot a.i., gotta say...it's a fairly tasty conclusion to the Battalion series. Raised my initial rage-vote to 4/5 thanks to the addition of Lancers and Vulture Planes.
Admittedly, I freakin' love those things...
To those saying it stole from Advance Wars, just shut up and learn to love the bomb. To those who say it stole from Halo: HALO CREATED THE FIRST FPS, HALO CREATED THE FIRST RPG, HALO CREATED THE FIRST DRIVING GAME, HALO WAS THE FIRST SHOOTER EVER TO USE GUNS.
To those who do not enjoy humor no matter how stupid I get, my answer is NO.
4/5. A few notes: add a better save feature, a better way of healing, more weapons and armor, a way to expand your caravan to either larger vessels or more than one vessels, streamline the combat stage to improve the aesthetics of the changeover, and...well, other then that you got the start of something pretty good here!
A fun game...if it weren't for that shadow thing. I killed it, eventually, but still...did it HAVE to be so freakin' hard?
3/5. Nice and original, but nowhere near as sandbox as it claims...if you want them badges and achievements, at least.
3/5. The humor was pretty good, otherwise it's just a run-of-the-mill TD game, as far as mechanics are concerned.
Perhaps the "buy your units" and "think about placement" will be enhanced in a sequel...if there IS a sequel.
Also, where is the save feature? Had to play this all the way 'cuz I couldn't find any place to save...
Edit: Nevermind, some kind soul just told me all you have to do to save is press F5! I'll try it to see what happens...won't you?
A glitch: i used PHanofmuzik's strat of setting up humongous megatowers and surrounding them with various blocks, but then it won't let me upgrade or sell towers to reconfigure.
Is this intentional, or a true glitch?
A fairly decent game, good waste of time. :D
Way too easy to break though. Perhaps in the sequel, it'll be harder to break it...then again, there IS the whole timer.
Hmmm...still gonna rate it 5/5 for fun. :D
I like where this game is going. :D
Perhaps if there's a sequel it could be tightened up a bit...especially in the power-ups department. For instance, collect power-ups to create stronger versions of the base power-up.
Just so many power-ups, after awhile it becomes impossible to die. :3
Spectacular, SPECTACULAR!
Jeebuz, someone tell me they're gonna make a sequel to this?
TOTALLY have boss battles, mid-boss, shields, enemies that fire back, and an enhanced weapon system!
Heck, make it like a real 2-d shooter and make it so you can switch between weapons!
OH GOD BULLET HELL OPTION!!!!
AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO FEELS THIS?!!!!
1.
111111111111111111111.
I can't 1 this game enough.
Don't get me wrong, this is a (possibly) fun game with an original concept that SHOULD be explored...though it should be noted that it's just so freakin' bulky~!
Part of the problem is that my mouse is spot on, but the game glitches up so hard the guy won't shoot!!!
From what I'm seeing there's even more glitches according to the comments left behind. How this became a "featured" game I haven't a freakin' clue...
Take this back to the drawing board, fix the glitches, and I'll try again some other time.
