WILD! The surrealism throws you for a second, but once you get a feel for the world--what works, what doesn't--it seems difficult, but it isn't. Just the right amount of thinking and noticing, with major points for art flair. Contrast could use a bit of polish, maybe, but I'm willing to blame my old eyes as much. I especially enjoyed the pig head, and all the skulls, surprise or otherwise. Good job!
Hey, thanks for the feedback and the art appreciation! If we are in the Goldilocks zone of: just right, then, we are cool and hey maybe we don't even get eaten by angry bears if we do manage to make the full game! :) My fav from the game is the puffer fish! I like to puff him up a couple of times before I give him cereal!:)
Amazing! Both the combat and the mazes to find a way forward...very well constructed. The "chase" (you know what I mean) gave me actual tension, and the resolution of that chase was masterful! GREAT WORK!
One of the best little puzzle ditties I've ever played. Jumping puzzles without the fear of death. Getting trapped and having to really THINK about the order of your moves. And a fantastic theme that feels like something I would dream after falling asleep in Physics. Easiest 5/5 I've had in a while. GREAT WORK!
...I know the truth. The implications are far-reaching and staggering. I can't unknow what I know, and it may drive me mad.
I should've just left that lost pig alone!!!
(I can be silly too. Great little game!)
This is a lot simpler than the Dregg mysteries, but the class of humor and dialogue is intact, so I'd like to see more. I do miss the drawn reaction faces that accompany Dregg's stories; there is a bit of a disconnect when all you have were the emotionless blank polygons. I'm hoping that Trey is a far descendant of Dregg, and that somehow there is a link to all the mythology...
FINISHED! With a Ranger! Got lucky with a Long Bow, Enchantments (Scrolls, Table, Transference TWICE), and a Book of Death allowing me a wall of skeletons between me and my targets! Tunnel Shot saved my butt more than a dozen times! Food was surprisingly never a problem; the Merchant was selling for a Warrior, so even he was a grocer! So much fun!
I think what I love most is how many times I have growled, "But I was doing so WELL!!" Is that not the true testament to a Roguelike game? I'm enjoying the HECK out of the new Ice Mage, and I'm getting much out of the updated Warrior, Ranger, and Necromancer!
Heeey...it would be helpful if the Table of Transference were more clear about which direction the transference was going. I guessed wrong, and lost all the enchantment I had placed on my primary staff! (Unless a gamble was the point, in which case, I'll probably never use one again.) Still enjoying the new game!
The Expansion is BRILLIANT! I just kept finding stuff and finding stuff and...whoa, what's that? I can build out there?! LOVE the building discovery journal! Also love that all this new stuff is necessary, because the Darkness got MEANER! Fantastic game!
Accomplished the Tech ending first, because I felt building that city right next to the Stone Circle would be more satisfying. (Hee!) Nifty nifty little game! The little bursts of discovery really fed my "must go see" lizard brain, then the master surveyor in subsequent games as I try to figure out how to link the really special buildings with the random terrain I'm given. Would love to be able to use the water a bit more (maybe just the coastal spaces?). 5 Stars!
I can't figure out an effective way to grind for dots. At some point, my weapon choices cease to be effective, so I can't Bronze any further, and going back to a level I CAN win results in zero dots, so no further enhancement. If the only way to progress is to dump real Kreds/cash into this, this isn't a game, it's a cash grab, and I will no longer have any part of it.
THIS GOBLET IS MINE!!! Finally got an acceptable collection of circumstances--Fire Mage with Flight Boots, Warrior Book, and Circlet of Knowledge, and a couple Enchantment Scrolls on the way--including a complete lack of Ice Caves! A truly satisfying end to the love/hate relationship with this game! (...I wonder if I'll come back...)
5/5! When I finally did everything "right", that was a fantastic sweet story of Outlaw Space. But getting there was a fun little rollercoaster of humor action and sadness. At first, I was a bit irked when there was no "go backs", just full restarts; when it became apparent that the choice branches did not just go "straight down", but merged back together in unexpected interesting ways, I can forgive all the restarts. Honestly, the only thing that could make this better would be full voiceovers. I would even love to hear the DJ.
