I like the speed of the game, but it desperately needs some kind of combat log so I can see what just happened. The computer will play something and it goes by so suddenly, I have no idea what it was.
The hit needle is still inaccurate and triggers a bit to the left of when I actually clicked. I have to click late on purpose to be accurate. Since the whole game relies on this mechanic, this is a little annoying.
Some levels where I was able to get under par and earn 3+ stars: [Pack 1] 3, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13; [Pack 2] 1, 3, 4, 8, 9, 11, 12, 17, 18, 20. More may be possible, but this is plenty. Aim at edges or corners where two blocks touch to break them both. Break a block in one shot by bouncing/ricocheting the ball so it hits twice. When trying to pivot a block aim further towards the end to push it harder. Hope this helps!
I can't hear any of the sound effects over the annoying Kingdom Hearts remix. The remix itself is good, but it's far too loud/hyper for this game. Can we have the option to mute the music only?
GOLD MEDAL TIPS: You only ever need 3 units: Rifle, Spy, and Heli-R. Rifle and Spy are your rescue team. The Spy should go first and rescue everyone she can without being detected. Use the Rifle like a sniper to pick off units that are in the Spy's way-- you can stand off screen, scroll over, and aim higher than your target to make long shots without being seen. Use the Rifle to carefully break blocks out from under enemies, or to make an easy path to hostages. Work slowly and carefully so they don't get killed. Once everyone is rescued, use Heli-R to blow everything up and get all the stars.
ENDLESS BADGE: (1) Avoid breaking single blocks! The resulting skull blocks are the worst when your screen is already half monsters and there are hardly any matches. (2) Annihilate whenever possible. You can fill it on one stage, then use it on the next, effectively skipping every other level. At around L40, you can fill it halfway through a stage and then use it to finish. (3) If you want to make it easy, grind until you can buy the best armor, and then you can forget about damage. After that I did it in one sitting and only needed 2 potions (at L40 and L46).
The 4th minigame badge is hard. The key is killing the skeletons in groups the second they spawn. Watch the dirt that kicks up before they appear, and eventually you will know exactly where they're going to be at all times. The aerial attack is great because you can kill a group and land on their treasure. Get into a rhythm: jump & slash, watch for the spawn, jump & slash... you'll get the medal eventually. I scored 246 (after about 15 tries).
My only gripe is that it needs a quick Restart button. When I'm going for that perfect time, and I make a mistake, I have to pause, retire, click through several other buttons, and wait for the track to load again to restart. Really fun and well made game.
Start with Bomb arrow, then Fire/Ice, then Fire/Ice wave... then the rest. Use them whenever you can so they get weapon experience. Buy the Trebuchets and NO OTHER UNITS. Units take friendly fire so most of them are useless. If you just want the badges set it to autoaim+Easy, and get ready for several hours of kinda boring gameplay.
Very challenging game, and reminiscent of classic dungeon crawlers. To those complaining about difficulty: it's supposed to be hard! Play on beginner if you're just trying to get the Den Remodeling badge.
This should be called Pixelvader RPG considering how long you have to grind for upgrades. It would be more fun if the ship wasn't so horribly gimped from the beginning. Frantic did it better.
Really fun game, but *ugghh*, I keep accidentally clicking the "Play More Games" link after a level. Like 10 times. Making it pop up right over the "FINISH" button is really annoying. Please move it.
I agree with most of the other comments in that I like the concept, but it just isn't working out yet. The dots are so small, and since you have to click ON the dot to shoot it, not just in the direction of the dot, the difficulty comes from trying to click these tiny, tiny dots, not from trying to find them on the sonar.
