How to have a successful assassination: Stay out of way of guards. Find a spot they never search. A couple. Then, use them to sneak near the target... Then kill him... And retreat to the nearest hidey-hole.
On my first try, I had the slightest little tiniest bit of health left on the final final boss... But NOOOOOOOO, he just HAD to get impossible to dodge...
