The new difficulties are not very good. It is impossible to get past the 4th required battle as anything but a mage, and even that requires some luck. It wouldn't be that bad if we HAD CONTROL OVER WHAT SKILLS OUT COMPANION TAKES.*cough* Not to mention it seems all you did for higher dificulties was scotch tape more HP and stamina on to their bars.
What difficulty cant you get past the 4th fight? And yeah that's typically how difficulty is increased in games :P More HP, more stamina, more damage, etc... What were you expecting?
Mask Suggestion: Gentlemanly Penguins Monocle. Unlocked by collecting your interest 200 times. Costs $50,000. Has the special affect of automatically collecting interest so long as Pingy is left in the bank.
Its not Chrome. I have tried in FF and IE as well as Chrome, but since 1.0.4 hit, none of them work. I played 1.0.3 in chrome just fine, but since the last update, it won't work in any browser.
A new development to add to my bug report: After leaving it on the main screen for about 30 seconds, a Mochi window pops up in the game saying that an error has occurred and that it can't proceed to check out.
Using the latest version of Chrome in Win7, and the controls refuse to work. I get to the point where the controls are explained, and though I attempt both WASD and the arrow keys, nothing happens.
The one thing that this is really missing to make it great is an ultimate goal. Rogue like games are a lot of fun because you rally have something to strive for. You play, die, play, die, play, die, and play and die again because the player keeps thinking 'Maybe this time...'. There is no such feeling here. I player one character to level 15 to unlock sandbox and hardcore, played the next to 30, and that was it. I didn't feel any reason to keep going. There was nothing more to unlock. There was no goal I felt like I was getting closer to with each play. There was nothing to accomplish. Adding some sort of end would make playing through it with each character and each mode more satisfying. Having a carrot at the end of the stick is absolutely vital to replay-ability for these sort of games. Having nothing to aim for just make them feel repetitive and highly unsatisfying.
Beat it all, and the challenge room door didn't even get painted gold. Enjoyed the game, but the lack of any real reward really makes it feel unfulfilling. I would put it at 3.5/5 as is, but will just round that up to 4.
If I were a teacher and you turned this in, I would have to fail you. Not because it's a bad game, per se, but because it would be as if you took the paper you already writ last semester, added an extra page of text, and didn't even bother to fix your previous typos and citation errors.
They same weapons are overpowered(energy shot and frag grenade). The early game is still a grind. The game is still to easy. The late game enemies have far to much health(even fully equipped with three 6 times upgraded H-bombs or TEN times upgraded frag grenades took full focused fire to kill even half the enemies in the last level). Worst yet, you completely missed the appeal of a multi part boss, and made the core invincible till you take out the rest.
This could be so much better than it is, and there is a lot of potential here, but I could say the exact same thing about the previous game.
As a fan, I have to say that this was definitely the low point of you games so far. I know you are trying to keep to a one a month schedule, but it might be better try for one every couple of months instead. The valentines game notwithstanding, your last 3 or 4 games have been a slow slide down in enjoyability. This one was a pretty sharp drop. It was far less fun than it was frustrating and completely lacked the experimentation value your previous games had. All there was to do was 'click-click-click-click-curse-that-freaking-blowfish-bot-clickclickclickclickclick', and with no possible variability on the players part, you end up with an unenjoyably repetitive exercise in patience.
If Othello is meant to represent a sword duel, this is meant to represent a sword duel played with grenades. Sounds great at first, until you realize it means who ever get the first direct hit is pretty much assured to win.
It seems that dodging still counts as getting hit, as far as the medals go. Either that, or the medals are rewarded purely on a factor of time. Either way is a problem, since as Neraine, I can kill everything and avoided taking any actual hits, and still somehow fail to get gold in many levels. I suggest you make it clear what the qualifications for medals are, and change them if it is indeed based on time and/or hitbox checks(as opposed to actual hits).
Also, the Evolution Chart is useless, as is. You need to add the function to click on each beasts so that we can actually review what each for does. I played as the guy my first game and was VERY disappointed in Ladon's exclusive line. They work much better for Neraine, but were terrible for the guy.
Level 1 is the only one that is actually that hard. It only last about 20 seconds though, so bare it and the rest isn't very difficult. Level 4 is a bit of a redux of one, but things are much slower and by that point, you are hardened to the repetition. 5 will seem terrible, but it only last 10 seconds, so even if you repeat 20 times, you wont lose more than 3 minutes on it. I finished insane with 375 continues, at least 100 of which were level one, and the rest were half in level 4.
Oh, and since people seem to be having trouble with the robot guards, I will tell you what to do: Siphon. That is all. If you keep the magic defense up, that brings their damage down to about 2k at most a turn. The upgraded regen buff can heal more than that. It might take two or 3 uses to make it work, but you must use it to avoid that 6k damage drill attack.
For people having problems on Epic, a small tip: You absolutely MUST train the mage girl to use the regen buffing Summon. If you use it a bit, you will eventually be able to upgrade it with the 'Bunni!!', which will make heal 3-3.5k hp a turn for both members. That is fantastic and absolutely vital in some fights. And about the final boss: Take out the nazi first things first. Also, limit how often you attack the turrets. You don't want to risk a nuke poping up at a bad time, or worse, getting two nukes at once(happened to me once). Attack the main body and hope that you somewhere along the line picked up one or both the counters as well as the Atk down upgrade. And remember that all effects that effect your sword get counted in Legend. If you have mana Leech on the swordsman, you can use it every single turn if you want. That about triples your output right there.
There would be a very easy way to improve this game my many leaps and bounds: Give us control of our drones. Doesn't have to be anything major, but telling your fighter to engage small enemies instead of going head on into a big ships cannon would be nice. Also, being able to tell repair drones to focus on things that are ACTUALLY damaged. And for all's sake, give the little enemies a lower range, same for our drones. A flock of 7 of those little guys do as much damage to me as one of the big guys, because can shoot 3 or 4 times each before they are really in effective range of my guns.
Also, what does +1 and +3 mean? +1 to what? 1? 20? There is a pretty big difference in the value of +1 there.
