I cant' get past ~50k. I suspect hitting ESC frequently when things get ugly would be helpful, but I haven't had any luck with that either, it just makes it take forever for me to get 50k

Disbursing is a word, it means to pay out and usually refers to funds from an account and therefore is not appropriate here. 'dispursing' is not a word, but 'dispersing' is and means to break apart (like to disperse a crowd of people). The word the game creator was probably looking for was 'distributing'.
