@pieshels:
Before update 1.12 blue versions of all weapons dropped rather frequently (when playing on insane) but after they "improved" the loot system the blue weapons stopped dropping altogether.
@HeavenlySign:
I found having more than one Gravity Gun even more effective as enemies get drawn to the Gravity Sphere even faster and accumulate all at the end of the screen. And instead of adding single-target ranged weapons I equipped only lasers and Bio Beams so whole groups of enemies got obliterated rather easily. Worked rather well up until level 100 when I decided that I probably won't see another purple or blue item drop and stopped playing.
What is challenging about this game? It's all about having pleased the RNG-God so no country would shut down all traffic before you infected it. I succeeded once (took me 108 days) and just decided it's probably not worth my time hoping for better RNG results...
Bug report: When deleting a unit (at full HP) from the unit bank it tells me that it won't count against the lost units count at the end. But it actually reduced the lost units rating to "excellent" (telling me I lost one unit) while in the losses list there was no unit listed.
Automatic language detection is a nifty feature - no possibility to change it though: not really cool. The German version is not able to properly display special characters such as ä/ö/ü/ß. They are all shown as exclamation mark. Which creates some minor disturbances while trying to deciper those words.
What is the point of New Game+? The only things that carry over are my achievements and my money, as it seems. That means that it will actually be harder to gain money as you can't get the achievements again. Combined with more difficult enemies I can't really see why I should even bother with NG+... (Oh, yeah. There is one new zombie to summon...)
2 suggestions to improve an otherwise good game: 1) Award XP-multipliers for beating levels with excellent (1.5x) and brilliant (2x) rating. There is no point in going for brilliant again if you only get 1 or 2 XP more than for excellent. 2) Change the way temples and evileye temples gain XP. Dens and Crypts do burst damage and gain large amounts of XP on firing even if they don't actually hit the enemy. Temples only gain XP when they damage enemies which is why they gain XP so much slower. Make them gain a portion XP every 2 sec even when they do not deliver damage during the whole 2 sec.
@AngryCyc: I don't know what's wrong with your wizard, but I'm able to kill about everything. Those unkillable things become vulnerable once you level up often enough. I guess they just have more armor than the other enemies.
