We actually do have some educated quesses about how old the universe is, which is around about 14 billion years old.
How have we come to that conclusion? Light speed, the oldest and thus farthest things we can see on the space, their light has taken about 14 billion to reach us, give or take few million years here or there. Also, there is the microwave background radiation image, pretty much the “baby picture” of our universe, might want to look that up too.
