I beat the game before it had badges. Now it erases my game saves every time I close my browser (I do not clear cookies). Is anyone else having this issue?
I would really like to play through again for badges, in more than 1 sitting.
I really like this game, but the save data is completely busted. I am having the same issue. Several purchased upgrades are missing, including lower versions of current weapons. Purchasing the "missing" (lower) rank weapon permanently downgrades my weapon.
Please fix the saves and restore SBM2 to its former glory!
The game play is good. The mechanics are solid. The animation is a little buggy, and I think that is related to how the sprite sheet is set up for moving/walking. The only thing that I "miss" is aiming with the mouse, but leaving that out is an interesting design choice. I understand the challenges of trying to make a game but not having an artist. 3/5, and hopefully you will gain experience with refining game play and tweeking game mechanics. I look forward to see what you can do with a larger team!
Collaborating with previous reviews:
Grandma's cat misses bouncing enemies. This was a pain. Other than that, her attack is pretty good.
(Suggestion: have the cat jump whenever the nearest enemy bounces.)
Dog healing was pretty awesome. I paid attention, and I liked what I saw.
Overall, a pretty fun game for a short run-through.
Adding Dog to the end screen would be great. Also, having an ending of something fun (hiking, fishing, etc) would be interesting.
I gave it a 5/5. Having one level with 5 zones was enough for a fun short run.
Everything that you have here is solid in its own right. Do some mechanics need refining? Yes. Would this game be more awesome with an achievements / awards system (such that we Kongregators seem to love)? Yes it would.
You have shown that you can build a great game, and hopefully you will listen to player feedback and build an equally well done sequel.
I am 16 hours in, have recovered all but one territory to Green status, and have 4 weapons fully leveled. I am really enjoying this game.
However ... The mouse responsiveness is kind of rough. Using mouse to move and to aim makes for difficult combat interactions. Holding down the space bar seems to change the mouse sensitivity, making combat difficult.
For future Decision games, please make the mouse sensitivity consistent. It is difficult when my mouse cursor is at two different places at the same time (one in game, the other outside of the game window) because of that change.
An over-arching change that I would suggest would be to have a single move functionality, then designing the hot-key system to be used around the movement controls.
All in all ... great game! Great series! Not only do I look forward to playing Decision 3 and future games in the franchise, I also look forward to a sequel to Medieval.
Is the Master of Wisdom bugged? I've rescued him 3 times but he still refuses to unlock.
And for any of you that didn't know, Flash stores game files as cookies now. Clearing your cookies erases all of your games. That's not a designer choice; it's a Flash thing!
The enemies are a lot harder to kill with bullets, which does not make a lot of sense to me. I end up getting at least a dozen knife kills each run because the damage that my team does by shooting is not enough damage to kill a wave of enemies. It feels like a Halo knock off.
I enjoy having more of this game to play, but I feel like the design on the sequel is not as good as the first game. The bullets need to be more powerful, or the enemies need to have less HP, or the commander needs to fire faster, as possible fixes for this. To be honest, it feels like the Battalion soldiers fire a bit slower than the bad guys of the same caliber, and do less damage than the enemy, which makes this game feels as "rigged for super hard mode."
One last question: When an enemy soldier is on fire, why is he still able to run and shoot? Along with that, why is the fire completely not enough damage to kill a basic soldier, even when it burns for the entire duration?
Not bad for game design practice, but you need to come up with something interactive. One natural expansion from this would be to create different types of attacks that have different outcomes, and let the player choose their action each turn.
I just got the hard badge, and I have a couple of suggestions. I noticed that the homing rockets target the enemy closest to the bottom of the screen. My opinion is that they should target the enemy with the highest armor or most HP or whatever "hardest to kill" solution you have. The soldiers kind of close ranks when hugging a wall, but I think it would be beneficial to have them all follow the squad leader all the way over to the wall and stand in line formation. I also agree about trucks being able to shoot behind them is super annoying. My only original input is that the mini gun weapon and the mini gun soldiers should fire in some sort of arc pattern, instead of always firing off several shots in a straight line.
Overall, though, great job!
I just upgraded my Academy to rk 2 and recruited student 5. The Bear Hunt quest this is available after defeating the Thieves is bugged. It gets stuck on the load screen. Refreshing the game and skipping that quest, for the moment.
Why don't you guys fix the Quick Draw Cannon deck problem? People complain about it all the time. I'm tired of hearing about how the dev's wont fix it.
It is INSANELY easier to push through getting 1 star (2 if you are lucky) on each level until you get to rank 25 or 30. Then go back and do the earlier levels for Brilliant and Night Brilliant. Trust me, it makes a huge difference!
The gameplay is pretty good, but the overall design needs improvement. Different maps would be great. Finding a way to make the levels harder while giving the player (close to) the same resources at the beginning of each map would be a big improvement too. I got stuck at map 4 because. A permanent upgrades system between levels would be pretty cool too.
Oh, and regarding ninjas from the first game ... I gave up on getting all the achievements because of the ninja bosses in the first game. It'd be great if they didn't stay invisible for SOOO FREAKIN LONG ... *grumble*
Got to the last level, couldn't beat it because of the performance lag. That and level 9 (the druid who spawns pumpkins and eggs) cause performance havoc on my Mozilla. I tried to log into it in IE and it wiped my saved game. Now I have to start over. Fortunately, the game is good enough that I'm willing to play through the levels again. It would be EXTREMELY helpful if there was some way to make the game perform better. Reduce quality, maybe? Thanks.
