Found a useful glitch. Click and hold to fire then drag your pointer just outside of the game window. The result is an auto-fire that saves some forefinger ache during long games.

Wiped some browser misc and restarted the computer. Worked well enough after that.

Running on Chrome, game loads but will not begin or back out of a menu.
