Accomplishes what it sets out to do. Worth playing through once. Though I suspect lots of people will play through without ever noticing the running social commentaries.
Way too easy. The edges on in-game graphics are fuzzy. Moving the character causes overlays to warp and move. The "breath" animation on the girl looks like she's dnacing and singing in time to a larval infestation in her trailing arm. The cutscene at at end of the first stage is ripped from the intro and doesn't advanmce the story at all. Combat is just pushing a button repeatedly without even needing to turn because swordswings attack both side of you and affect the entire vertical length of the corridor. No character advancement system. No weapons to gain. Nothing to do but alternate between holding right arrow and spamming the a key. Repeat.
Annoying that the attack range of some weapons is SHORTER than the visible length of the weapon on the screen. Hockey stick, for example. You can have a zombie standing on top of the end of your stick, you you can't hit it because it's out of range.
Why do students cost money rather than pay money to accept? Why can I accept students then immediately graduate them? Why is it more efficient to gain fame by graduating fresh students than by graduating high level students? Why do I have no control over how students stats improve? Why do runes apparently have no in-game benefit?
This is a beautiful game that feels completely unfinished. So much care has been taken to make it pretty, to make it smooth...but there's just not much to do, and there's very little control over anything. Most of the game seems to amount to clicking around on a map. The same map, over and over again. It's a school, but there are no classes? Student advancement is click to advance a level, click to change to the only class you can change to? It's just too simple. There's not enough to do. I want to like it, but it needs more.
I like the idea, but making her look good and making the game happy aren't always the same thing. I understand that different outfits are more suitable for different places, but some of the color combinations the game seems to prefer are awful.
So I stumbled on the end boss purely by accident, apparently beat the game, and I've now been wandering around for half an hour trying to find these other bosses for the BF Badge. Where are they? And why is the final boss like 5 bubbles from where you start, but the lieutenants are nowhere to be found?
My 1000-kill trophy has disappeared. It just isn't there any more. I still have credit for the 1000 kills-in-a-row, so obviously I've done 1000 kills total. Disappearing trophies is not good.
Awesome game. Needs more though. Most of the game is spent trying to figure out how to do ANYTHING, but then as soon as you do, it seems like suddenly the game is over. I've invested a couple hors figuring it out, so now I want to actually play. Four battles isn't enough. Looking forward to the rest.
Should be able to release multiple waves at a time. No reason to limit it to only ten viruses on the field at a time. There should also be an indicator of how many waves have been completed out of how many total. Would be nice to have more variety of viruses too. The help text claims they're different, but honestly I can't tell the difference. Everything just dies. Game could use some variety, more difficulty, and some kind of story or incentive to keep playing after the first wave. Game is kind of easy and boring.
Winning strategy for this one seems to be to spam anything on the top of bottom row over and over until they surrender. Include bazookas every now and then in case of tanks. Otherwise, basic and assault infantry is all you really need. Curiously, I found the game much easier if I didn't watch the battle and just pumped out units. When I watch, I try to play intelligently, and that doesn't seem to help here. Just spam units until you win.
