I tried Flypools answer only to realize that it does not work in the latest versions of chrome. I'm not getting another browser just to get a stupid BOTD lmao I'll just report this instead
Where's the bug report button? All games must have one...I randomly lost one of my rare loots while trying to forge...I've got to flag the game for this.
There's just too much wrong with this game for it to be worth playing, let alone getting badges. The constant lag, the fact that your energy doesn't return unless you restart from stage 1, the equipment interface isn't user-friendly, the difficulty scales up too quickly, sets are strange and unbalanced (i.e the breastplate is 3 whereas a brown coat is 4), the RNG for item drop rate is grindy at best, the "speed" stat has no purpose(?), need I go on? Don't even get me started on the physics bugs; Blue0Dwarf already laid them out anyway.
ishu_bagaria has a good point about the traps and guns issue, but I also don't like that the melee weapons are so similar yet so much more pricey as you progress. Even if they're more powerful they really don't help all that much when it comes to fighting bears and hordes of differing animals. Especially since it's easier to use guns/traps
The only problem I have is that if you want to unlock them all you have to be good, as opposed to persistent. If I was designing the game I'd make the hardest ones unlocked by a point/coin system that you earn based on other stats including just playing and losing(taking longer for a reward of course).
In 2012, I shouted a comment in all caps(I think it was just to get the attention of the devs, which was a poor attempt obviously) about the volume controls lacking. The comment has been downvoted a lot, and possibly for the same reason. The problem with it is that the volume doesn't update until you have clicked OK, which is tedious because it would be just as easy controlling the volume on your computer instead and that does have active(live) changes...I know it would be an easy task to fix, but the game is so old that its likely it never will be.
"Unity Web Player games are no longer playable on Chrome, Firefox, or Edge browsers." This is a complete and utter lie, as I've been playing unity web player games the over past few weeks, and I only use Chrome and Canary.
I accidentally said the right thing to the nymph and missed out on all her interesting conversations. Makes me sad because I likely won't be starting over ever.
Why the hell is this in the badges of the week? Are those chosen at random or what? Because I can think of many games on kongregate that are shit and they're still better than this. The top comments (from 2014) state why.
@hamrage14 I'm not daft, I know why they did that, but from a game design and development standpoint, it's not necessary. There are many other ways to balance or limit the amount of units you have. Take a look at Age of Empires or Heroes of Might and Magic. Upgrading certainly costs more, and units cost more after upgrading as well, but not for each unit/building.
Some of the cost increases are ridiculous...If I build a house, the next one should be the exact same or cheaper, because I would make less mistakes. If I want a tree for a druid to live in (which shouldn't cost any wood, it should in fact produce wood because we're carving out the tree) I shouldn't have to expend double the resources it apparently cost to have the previous one...Same goes for units; they shouldn't require more resources to hire than the last one. That's just absurd. Besides that, fantastic game. Would have given it 10/10 otherwise.
