What's the best way to get red banners? They barely seem to go up for me.

My click incme was up to 16 gold first game and then after resetting it dropped to 5 and hasn't climbed again. Tried recalculate and that does nothing...

Recalculate only works on the achievement bonus. I never had to use it in testing, but since the bonus is only calculated after getting an achievement or when loading the game, I tossed that in there as something has gone wrong. Make sure you are upgrading in the merchant buildings

Thanks @latic, I explored a bit after posting and realised retirement was available, probably should've checked days ago!
How long has it taken people to get to lvl 100? I've been playing for 159hrs and still only lvl 89! Am I doing something wrong!?

For some reason I can't smelt Iron Ore. I have bought everything from the shop and i'm at lvl so, but can still only smelt copper...
