for a mouse only game this game did a really god job of making it feel like the tools at your disposal had a lot more dimension to them than they actually did and I accredit this to the good level design
in the beginning I thought it was another sad attempt of the puzzle genre where there is no critical thinking and so long as you keep playing you'll eventually arrive at the conclusion through guess and check. And while there is still a lot of guess and check in the play all the way through it becomes less of the means of solving the puzzle and more the means of testing a hypothesis. I think the early levels should have been angled to look isometric to hint that things would turn 3d eventually. I almost gave this game a bad rating before it made the jump simply because I didn't think it even had the capability to convey a captivating level. But then it went 3d and I was like "whoa they might be on to something here" with each new abilty came a new level of complexity. I didn't give it 5 stars because I felt like it was cut abruptly. The last level didn't feel like a final challenge just another level to teach how mechanics interacted. More abilities and difficulty please!
I use the purge towers on the fat misanthropes and expect it to make them equally effected by the stone towers as the other enemies, but it seems to have no effect. If this is not the purpose of purge, then it should say so. My point is, "removes all abilities of a target unit" is very vague and should be more specific. Is the fat misanthropes resistance to stone towers a ability? is the speed of the rogue an ability? Is the mushroomers sleeping and summoning an ability?
I was expecting the mystery upgrade to be endless mode, that would have been a lot of fun. Also I didn't level up in any decision making skills, and on a related note: I should be doing homework.
