Requiring the mobile version? Load of bullshit instant 1/5. This is kong. If you think your game is that great that you would even want to put exclusive limitations then I’m sorry to break your bubble. Here’s a load of things you need to improve on. 1) Your interface needs work. I dont have to elaborate more on that. 2)You need some in-game intro/instructions too. 3) The movement is messed up. Jumping launches you forward. 4) Poor Ai and zero variety (even a cheap copy paste or colour change will be better). The AI spawn doesn't even work properly. They dont move sometimes when you go to new towns. 5) Too many painkillers all over and picked up items disappear when you change weapons. 6) The towns are all the same, a bunch of painkillers all over in the room and a spawning group of zombies. 7) I don’t want to go to the menu to chat. I want to chat while I’m actively playing.
1) Matches are too boring. Look at new star soccer, the time can be sped up and theres a lot more chances. (interceptions passes and more diverse set-plays are needed).
2) Interesting use of cutscenes, but i dont like watching some dude zip his pants.
3) Energy
Sorry but this doesn't work. 1/5
Lovely game with a great introduction (love the narration). The two endings also give "replayability value". The inventory could use some management work. Theres a few bugs such as map errors, player getting stuck "underground" and jumps multiple times till he gets to level terrian, and of course, the ending freezes out. Was going to rate this a solid 4, but with a bug like that; and STILL UNFIXED, i'll have to go for a low 2 here. Disappointing.
Come on. For a game this simplistic, the least you could do is polish it to perfection. Here are some suggestions without modifying the essence of the game:
1) In-game instructions and description
2) Sometimes when I jump, the sprite goes through the eggplant(visually) but doesn't register the point (probably because its not at dead centre). So this area you have to polish up. Simple collision right?
3) Fonts not consistent (the "Ready" for example)
4) Fix your border (towards the right)
Some small tips on improving your game that don't really involve massive coding or "hard work":
1) In-game instructions
2) Pause when using weapon shop
3) Basic storyline/background (an introduction rather than throw yourself in the game)
4) Different sprites as the game progresses (this is just for a little playability. you probably took your sprites off the web so why not add more in anyway?)
Good game, but the "revive" power-up doesn't work. Its just a heal and is misleading to call it "revive". Moreover, the difficulty is quite high in this game with traps and mob swarms but with no revives in this game, it can get frustrating especially when you made it quite far and fell into the lava (lame deaths...etc). Should have bosses as well, more equips and upgrades and fresh level designs to improve gameplay, replayability and purpose (for example you can make the game "end" at floor 10 but allow the player to continue on as far as he desires to provide both closure and replayability). Stretching it to 3/5.
Now this is an actual decent game. Very well done unlike some RPG-Maker -coughlegendofpandoracough- crap. I felt that the game was well polished and a solid game overall. Keep it up 5/5.
I like how the missions are varied but the storyline could be worked on so that they dont seem too random. Needs a proper introduction and tutorial too. Additionally, The collision system also needs some work on and features such as traffic lights could be added. Moreover some of the textures dont look original, such as the lockpicking interface. You might want to replace those. Other than that, better sounds and bgm would be improve the game as well. 2/5.
@ Matakukos
Well done insulting your very own players. Moreover, trying to use the "why dont you try/ can you do better" argument to try to invalidate my point without actually attempting to counter my arguments reflects poorly on you. For example if you were a film director and Robert Ebert gives you 1/4 stars you wouldn't tell him to screw off because he probably couldn't make a film now would you? Instead of shrugging off constructive criticism why not you try to work on them and polish up your game instead? From your comments you seem to imply that RPG-MAKER is not easy to use. Well for thats no excuse for delivering a solid game and for starters you can work on improving your langauge errors and the storyline (I believe that requires no technical skills, now does it?). Very appaling how you handled this as an experienced game dev.
(Review Part 2) Language used is also poor and laden with mistakes. Additionally, the objects used in the game were poorly chosen. E.g. I don’t know what I can push with my boulder-moving skill (I know it’s the beige square, but you can’t move most of them). Map design is also badly done. There are no puzzles (you should make use of the boulder-moving skill) and the "labyrinth" is more of a waste of time rather than a challenging puzzle. Not forgetting to mention, there are several bugs in the game such as the UI continuing to show Poisoned status despite drinking an antidote). This clearly shows an absurd lack of polish or testing whatsoever if I can pick out so many wrongs. There’s is so much more potential especially with the RPG-Maker engine and I feel you are maximising it. I hope you take my criticisms seriously and polish up your games before posting it. For your effort at least, 1/5.
Well, seeing what you said its clear that you have no idea how to make a game, but you are pretty good at occupying a lot of space in my game's comments box with useless and nosense comments. I put a lot of work in this game... and I have only one thing to say to prove you are really st***id =)
Try to make a flash game with RPGMAKER, you genious, and then upload it to kongregate. I will put you 5 stars...
(Review Part 1) Vastly unpolished. For starters, the panning of the screen is too slow and there’s too many dud openings to the next screen leading to a dead end. Monsters also take a ton of hits to kill (e.g. right at the beginning, slimes take 7 hits to die). The exp skill also doesn’t work. Green slimes gave 1 exp by default and still do so at exp lvl 5. This makes the game too slow and grindy. Moreover the shop is much disorganised and the descriptions to items are poorly done. E.g. Comparing the 12k,15k,19k swords, they all seem similar but the 12k one seems better in terms of damage (79 dmg and smallest dmg range) than the rest. Quests are merely just "talk to this person" and "kill x/x mobs". I also find it ludicrous how to gain entry to an area, you have to do a killing quest for no apparent reason (the dialogue needs to be spiced up). Storyline is also extremely poor and the dialogues of the NPCs and quest-givers aren’t any better. (Continued in Part 2)
I forgot to mention about the bug where your skills "disappear". That is that you have added them but they appear unusuable in fights (they remain greyed out). To confirm this, i added an upper tier active skill and true enough, the supposedly active skill (worked fine before) is forever greyed out. Changing to 1/5.
Dont understand why the hell does this game still have bugs. Dont believe me? Use a brawler and attack 2 enemies at a time with allies. If the allies kill one of your targets before you do, the game is pretty much frozen. Moreover, the defence doesnt seem to kick it sometimes when you press repeat. Instead of defending, its just a turn skip (the icon and the action shows it). 2/5. Good game but still full of bugs (despite being so old; clearly not polished enough) and highly repetitive.
Broke the game within 2 minutes. Stuck at the part where she wants me to repair the cabin but its forever upgrading (probably clicked too many times on the arrow).
