@BoBiKeL You need to defeat that hero in a city, then you will unlock that hero's antiform for purchase. After you buy the hero, you can upgrade them as normal.
from what I can tell:
AC = Autocannons; auto-fire on enemies
SF = Not sure, but they're sort of flak-guns for those annoying missile-style units that pop out of carriers
FF = Force Field
I lost about 3 guys above level 15 to a TRAP. It was quite frustrating to watch your elite characters die in such an undignified way. Even so, Nerdook made this game very well. 5/5
