Read the news update: "So, the update I’ve been recently working on grew a bit bigger than I anticipated and I’ve missed all ETAs because of this. Since at this point the game was essentially re-written from scratch I’ve decided that I will release the updated version as a new game (sort of a sequel). The game is nearly finished, so it will be released soon™, but if you want to keep in touch with development of this and future updates/games, I invite everyone to join my new Discord channel (I did a bit more detailed write-up about state of the game there) https://discord.gg/r8rNvW4 and to hit me up on Twitter @mrmoczan. Thanks to all of you who are still patiently waiting for the update!"
I got weirdly nostalgic for Fantasy Online from playing this game. I think it's mostly the background assets being similar, but collect quests and the quirky hero outfits also get close. Dang, I sure miss that game sometimes...
This game would be much more playable if the runs didn't take so damn long. Each run takes like 5 minutes, just to get enough material to make a minor upgrade, which doesn't get me any farther than the prvious run. If the miner moved 4 or 5x as fast, and energy and damage increased accordingly, the game wouldn't be quite as tedious.
Loved the puzzles, very well done, with just the right amount of subtle difficulty. I found the end-scene slightly creepy, but otherwise the game was lovely :)
First impression was that this was a terrible, terrible game with a very outdated UI. After hanging around a while to get the hard badge, I've revised my opinion. The game is ok, but quite rough around the edges. The playerbase is pretty friendly, and willing to instruct on the best way to level and get the best gear. Even though it's an energy game, if you optimize your build properly, you can level constantly (auto-levelling they call it) for hundreds of levels. Anyways, the UI is still pretty bad, but the game itself is OK if you like this sort of thing, and I think that the community would make it worth it if you did.
I have been impressed by the AI in this game. So far there have only been a few situations where I've noticed the AI make a 'bad' decision, and only once where it did something that didn't make any sense at all.
My first impression (and I imagine that many players share this): I guess the developer doesn't want me to play? Because I can't play. It loads up and everything, but as far as I can tell, the developer is doing their darndest to stop me from doing anything but staring at the screen :( Seems like a cool game that someone put effort into, but oh well, guess I'm leaving...
This game is really frustrating to play - it feels like the developer doesn't want people to enjoy their game unless they are paying extra to do so. The constant pop-ups (should be able to disable them after the first time, I haven't changed my mind in 20 seconds), the features that should be free but cost money (showing which combinations I've already tried, etc), the lack of hints without refreshing (making it impossible to play when you get really stuck)... on top of that, the gameplay is not smooth, when you are trying to combine things. If anything combines, it pulls you out to the world scene, and doesn't return you to the book, making it confusing and easy to lose your place.
Just frustrating, when this could be a good game like the first ones.
I appreciated the thought that has clearly gone into this game this game, especially the shortcut keys which were very useful in the bigger levels. You know a puzzle is hard when it takes over an hour while using the hint key repeatedly. Due to accidental Pavlovian conditioning, am now conditioned to salivate when hint button lights up.
Really great game - my one criticism is that I would like to be able to see my previous solution(s) for a level, so that I can use them as a tool to look at while I try to figure out how to get the stars. It's especially annoying if I know that I just had to change a connection or two, but the level resets because I completed it, and I can't remember exactly how everything was. Otherwise great game, easy 5/5.
This game is gradually becoming more and more pay2win. Read my post that was removed from the RumbleGames forums here: http://www.kongregate.com/forums/382-kingsroad/topics/430993-censored-rumbles-ten-steps-to-pay2win
I absolutely loved the original Doodle God, but this was just painful. I played through and unlocked all of the elements, but many of them made very little sense (there is no way that anyone would have guessed them, even though there was a tenuous connection there). Additionally, I felt like half the game was about drink mixing, which really isn't the biggest thing going on in the world. I was trying to create things like 'war', 'army', 'government', but apparently other things are more important. Also having to try and combine everything because it's not obvious =/= fun.
Interesting comparison. :)
