It's a bug that has been introduced because of an update of the engine used for the game, it is now fixed.

24 was not that hard...make use of the orange button...coordinates the timing of the plants

I find the impossible badge a little less frustrating than the levels. While the endless requires you to memorize a few patterns, and how you plan to solve each, the hard one is solving bigger problems, but with your progress saved. Fortunately no death count for the hard badge :D
