In regards to the controls, I would have played longer if one key stroke changed orientation by one segment. If I'm going to put time into learning to effectively control my character, I would like to be able to do more than rotate in 2D.
So I got frustrated, closed window, came back, and found my progress didn't save. I could easily have missed an info box about saving games, but it would be reallllly nice if the game auto-saved.
Counter-intuitive but doesn't interfere with gameplay: I found that tapping W (or whatever you use for boost) lets you maintain max speed for a much longer time than simply holding down W.
this is by design, under a certain speed boost will give you an initial kick to velocity. that technique is good for getting back up to speed quickly from a slowdown but you can't do it too fast and the effect lessens the faster you are going (to prevent crazy speed accumulation). the kick can also be handy if you're good with your in-air control to move the car in a certain direction when airborne : )
An excellent game. I'm especially impressed with how many unique tracks you managed to pack onto one map. I think it could be really cool to make a track that gives players choices: take the safe but slow route or try to make a jump like the stone ramp to airborne to road transition in Through the Needle to shave off seconds. Awesome game overall.
thanks! we were considering shortcuts (like the old rush racing games) but i decided that stuff like that was better for large city racing then the smaller open terrain we have : )
Summon Alpaca:
An alpaca bounds across a portion of the screen, it's hooves each touching down three times, for 10 or 15 damage each impact, blast radius of Heavy Shot.
games played 19; won 18, lost 4. I think it's because of sync and connection problems. Please just let us know it's being worked on, so we can enjoy ourselves in your game!
This is the best artillery game I've played. I do miss being able to manipulate the terrain effectively, as few things deliver more pleasure then watching an opponent waste shots under a pile of dirt. Some ways to really mess with the battlefield could bring this into my list of top games overall.
Seeequelllllll!!!
After level 7 or so, the player character seems a bit overpowered. I'd suggest adding some more enemy types, maybe monsters that spawn mini-monsters, more enemies that stay on screen until killed, mages that fire more projectiles or much faster. Also, put rocks and water on the terrain?
