I also experienced a bug where after I finished a game, my number of pips wouldnt appear.........Oh I forgot to mention, I think the pips system works fine, it forces the player to multitask, collecting pips and fighting/avoiding enemies.
game is excellent except for one game-breaking problem: the spawns need to be fixed! Either make a wider circle around your ship in which enemies can't spawn or make a phase in period, like in the regular geometry wars, where enemies were stationary and immobile for about 1/2 second before they were deadly.
The best solution, however, would be to have a (short, perhaps 1/4th second) spawn 'warning', and then introduce a smart spawn circle. With this, you have a ring around your player in which he can't spawn, plus a cone ahead of him, in the direction he's moving, where enemies can't spawn. This cone should be at least as long as the distance the ship can travel in 1/2 second. This means that the player will always get warnings before an enemy can spawn directly ahead of him, but can still spawn close behind him. In addition, you could make an adjustable phase-in time, like 1/5th of a second if spawning behind the player, but 1/3rd of a second is spawning in front.
also: if you already got to level 10/20/50 for a badge, you can get the points by simply pressing the forwards arrow to skip instantly to the last level you reached.
just one request: once you beat the game (and kill all those super tanks) you should be able to chose which of the tank states you use, so you can play around with all of them!
President Madagascar Assassin
Dude! You just completed the President Madagascar Assassin achievement in Pandemic 2 and won the President Madagascar Assassin badge and 60 points!
Yar!
excellent game, only complaint is that its a bit to easy.
I really like the random gem creation and the gem combination systems. It seems strange that some gems have a tendency to cap off their specials at gem level 6 or so, but im sure theres a reason for that.
the game could absolutely use some work in terms of improving the 'recording' quality. there are many times where if you make jumps too close, the game will often either make the jump too short or to long. an improvement in the time resolution of your recording feature might improve this problem, but then your fps might worsen... the concept, however, is excellent, and I love the gameplay! 5/5
excellent game...my only complaint is that the game is horribly, horribly demanding. It takes almost 50% of my cpu time on an athalon 3500+ (running vista and firefox 3 beta 4)... i suppose theres a pretty good chance that vista or firefox is at fault tho. oh, and under said conditions, the cursor dissappears all the time in the firefox window (in all tabs) as long as the flas game is open....nonetheless 5/5
oooh thanks for mentioning that MetalX. The zombie room blows...no other way to say it. It takes so long to kill all the zombies (and theyre such easy kills) that it almost seems like you expect the player to deplete their weapons before proceeding...as a plot element or something. and then the next room is (I think) the hardest fight in the game. you really need to supply some weapons to the player (in an armory room or something) between the zombie room and the next room.
on that note, yes MetalX, you do eventually get to leave that room, just make sure you saved some ammo from a gun so the next room is doable.
a few glitches:
jump -> back-jump allows you to reach many places you arent expected to reach
enemies are almost completely helpless within about 3-4 feet of you while swinging your pipe...even if you aren't hitting them. this means you can just get somewhere high and swing away till people are dead or you have ammo
switching from weapon 1 to melee and back leaves you on weapon 2 instead of weapon one (more of a convenience thing really). decent game, not great tho. I really like the renewing health system, even if it is a straight ripoff of gears of war... it would be nice if you could make the red messy health effect a little less prominent, it gets too annoying. nonetheless, 3/5
good game...just a few things:
1. getting hit with an enemy bullet while having the movement speed bonus causes you to keep the bonus but loose the boot graphic.
2. if you shoot immediately after getting hit, you will shoot straight ahead, not in the direction you are trying to aim. I'm not sure if this is a glitch or not, but it sure is annoying.
3. shore up those collision boxes on the stars... my head was impaled at least 4 or 5 times without my dying.
4. when you beat the game, the player should be able to start on all levels through 21, instead of assuming that he died on teir 21.
great game tho... 4/5
aww level 190...was going for 200 ;)
nice game, a little short on replay value tho... you should look into making a score system, improving score display when monsters die next to buildings and adding more buildings/upgrades/monster types.
nonetheless, 4/5 ;)
the graphics are clean and flashy (love the title screen) but the gameplay has something to be wished for. control is way too sensitive. if you need to pick up your mouse, you basically automatically lose in many levels. I suggest a 'pause' button which, when held down, freezes the game. 'mouse out' detection would still be on, but it would give players a chance to reposition the mouse on the pad and get the cursor back in the right place without losing.
BUG: reaching any given level and returning to the menu allows access to only all the levels preceding it, but not the level you just quit off. yay for off-by-one errors ;)
honestly, I would give you a 3/5 or 4/5, but those double trouble levels are so fucking frustrating I quit. I might check back later but for now, 2/5
