A button that lets you craft the last recipe you tried would be helpful, instead of having to get it out of your recipe list again to train your crafting
I'm pretty good a flash games. There are people much better than I am, but a whole lot of people aren't. There were a couple of levels I had to replay several times with the best gear available and the best of my prefered weapon set. There also doesn't seem to be a contingency for people who are bad a playing games but enjoy it anyways. If they get stuck and can't beat a level with the best gear/magic/item combo they have available, they probably will rage quit. People who rage quit games aren't normally repeat customers.
Other thoughts: The lighting magic doesn't seem balanced vs other magic even with the decreased cd timer. Also your coin attracting potion idea is interesting but impractical. People who are having trouble are never going to use them and the people who aren't having trouble don't need them, it's a waste of an equip slot. I doubt very much anyone uses them frequently, unless they're farming lower levels.
Begging people to rate your game higher so your sponsors pay for a sequel is silly. Telling people who criticize your game and gave it a lower rating that: 1 You couldn't make a better game because you lack funding, 2 this lack of funding can be fixed by giving the game a better rating, 3 basically refusing to add game content that would improve your game because it doesn't have a good enough rating. Is a number of things but mostly asinine. If you want to get better ratings either make a better game, or take user suggestions and make your game better. I will not give a 5 star rating to a game unless I think it deserves it and I certainly won't be guilted into doing so by the developer of said game. I actually rated it lower than I normally would have because you're begging for a better rating, and no I'm not going to tell you how many stars that was.
Yeah, I guess I should clarify. What we are requesting is that players not hold ratings ransom, in other words give low ratings until their requested feature is implemented. ie. "I would have given you 4/5 but right now 1/5 until you add flying pony guns!"That's what we are trying to discourage as it won't allow us to add flying pony guns, it just tears the game down- it's not proactive. If you think the game is a rated something else on it's merits, by all means rate away.
A few suggestions: Display tower price and upgrade price. 5 and 15 may not be hard to figure out but it's nice to have that information at a glance. Make the space taken by a tower match that towers icon. In game menu buttons are user friendly, people like being able to start over, and pause the game. A game over screen is something you may want to look into instead of looping right back to the main menu. Also if it's a project for school you may want to spell the word "right" correctly.
Error detection could be a lot more intuitive. A missed keystroke can make the next 3 words be typed incorrectly or you have to type slower to compensate for something that this game is suppose to do inherently. The text is rambling and the type format is nontraditional. I also have doubts about the speed calculation's accuracy.
First it's not a glitch you get that awarded for loading a saved game. Second the levels are what your Kong level is. When the new chat came out something happened where the Kong level discover code no longer works. Third l2p.
Starting with games in general: They should always have a point. (this one doesn't other than you're learning to do something new. Which is not something that you audience would normally take into account when playing a game) Games should be at least a little challenging. People like being rewarded for doing good in the game they play. They also like the ability to upgrade. The games difficulty should scale with ones ability to upgrade. Otherwise once you achieve a certain amount of upgrades the game becomes to easy. This game is ok for a first game but lacks all the things I mentioned a game should have. This is not to say all games should have all of those things. Normally a game that involves shooting something would have at least some of those elements. Also for shooters (depending on your what you want your game to do) you may want to have an ammo counter and cross hairs.
