This game is super buggy. You randomly will miss your jumps for no reason (I do them with almost identical timing/spacing every time, but it just... doesn't work like 25% of the time)
Cute and fun game. As a platforming fan, I did not find the wall-climbing to be that difficult. People complaining that it is bad design are just bad at the game. I don't think anything was wrong with the design. Some of the jumps did require precision, but not to a frustrating point (not any more so than, say, an average Mega Man game). It is not artificially difficult to require you to perform platforming in a platforming game.
It took me about 20 minutes to complete it. Sadly there didn't seem to be any story or secrets so I don't have much reason to play it again. It's a bit too easy to go through again for the challenge.
The dark area was a bit strange. It made it seem like there might be story or a bigger variety of areas. But there wasn't, so it seemed very out-of-place. That's the only real thing I felt was off about the game.
Still gave it 5 stars. Great game!
Was fun, but if you die later on (from trying to go to a new port without realizing you're going to get obliterated or something) it takes forever to get your funds back up to repair your ships. Its just a bunch of running around and trading and it gets boring really fast.
I wanted to complete the game because overall it's very fun and cool, but this has happened twice and I just can't be bothered anymore.
Mustache Ride has received a major update! Check out the article on IndieDB to see what's new, including most importantly the new tutorial mode: http://www.indiedb.com/games/mustache-ride-the-game/news/mustache-ride-on-kongregate-has-been-updated
I'm creating a short "how to play" option that will talk you through the basics of the game and be available from the options menu (replacing the "HELP ON/OFF" thing).
And for anyone wondering, you can use Kong's "instructions" tab for how-to-play, or turn on a 'help screen' by going to the options and selecting "HELP ON" :)
The instructions didn't say how to jump so I had to figure it out. Kinda frustrating. Is there a give up button? Sometimes you get trapped and have to wait for a slow death.
