How do you get the demon sword?

Ok a couple questions. I talked to the katana guy and he said he gave me a key or w/ever. I then went into the divine woods and tried to open the locked barrel. I went back to the guy and he told me to enjpy my new blade even though i have none. I also cannot figure out how to get east of the paridiso base. can anyone help me? I also would like to know how to get the other half of the key inasha gave to me.
