Strangely easier than the first one, but still really hard, to the point where I wondered at times if the game was cheating. Not bad at all, just difficult. Maybe put in a difficulty setting and/or upgrades for the casual player. Its a flash game after all, not exactly something you invest large amount of time into in one sitting (I hope not anyway....)
The whole replace companion thing is silly, Kelly magically disappears when Hank shows up? Immersion breaking in mah flash game! First time for everything I guess. Thought the tiny storage was a bit annoying too. Fun game all the same though.
Interesting twist on classic side-scrolling shooters. Like the castle idea, though the upgrades were underwhelming gameplay-wise. Those princesses need to lay off the makeup too lol.
I want to see the ability to repair or replace buildings when they are damaged/destroyed. Going ten waves with a damaged turret brings out the OCD demon in me.
Loved it when I used self-destruct and the game decided that 2 first-aid kits were enough to save me... I still died but at least I had 50 health left in my dismembered torso. :D
Thought it was funny that the shotgun is easier to hit at long range, watching bunnies dodge the winchester at point blank is both funny and frustrating at the same time. Good game even though its nothing new.
Ssyba? Seriously. I totally lost interest in any semblance of plot this game had after that. The only thing more original than Ssyba is Alucard. Wouldn't say that's good writing. Wasn't impressed by music either.
Couple maps I had trouble telling foreground from background and ran into stuff. Namely Fortress City and Great Forest. I'd have liked it if the enemies were slightly bigger as well (maybe I'm just a bad shot?) I also had a time or two when there was nobody around to talk to at the cafe. Thought that was strange. Other than that, great game.
Decent game I guess. Was disappointed in there being no character customization. The crafting and inventory system is a bit annoying to deal with, I had monster eggs piled up and ended up disposing of one I didn't click on. After passing the gate of crius the game decided I couldn't move after a snake bit me, regardless of the amount of weight i had. So that killed it for me. Its good but needs work.
An awesomeness option? Someone has a high opinion of their game. The gameplay is alright, and I don't mind the art (explosions remind me of Wind Waker...) Have to frown at the "borrowed" music and the ho-hum writing however.
It's a fun game. I'd like to see it grow into a standalone series, I imagine it could stand up with big boys like Disgaea with enough improvement. Obviously an ideal for somewhere down the road, still needs alot of polish (and funding I'd imagine) before that. Big thing for me was the AI; pathing, aggro/leashing and spawn locations should be at the top of the list to improve for a potential sequel.
Yeah, Ashmarsh? Not Insane at all. Especially if you've got a half decent army at your back, or use the stomp skill to stun. The shop items there are weak too. The level before it is MUCH harder. Kinda strange there was no shop on the Redmeadow Barrens level either. Good, simple game all the same.
I've heard the music used in other games, not exactly the greatest effort in sound department overall. The sprites are decent though, remind me of some of my favourite RPGs.
The graphics in this game remind me of Baldur's Gate. In fact some of the backgrounds look they belong in that series. This disturbs me for some reason...
I hate bloom. Nothing is worse than playing a game blind while I still have eyes in my head. Turn it down. Also disappearing blocks suck. They sucked in Mega Man, they suck here too. Try not to use them.
I was more interested in the writing than the game mechanics. It was pretty well written. Think you nailed most of the cliches in J-RPGs too. It was fun.
The only bad part of this game is the "bugs": items like crates and bombs come back after you throw yourself in acid, and the different gun upgrades seem to overwrite one another (intended I imagine) but can't be reacquired if you wanted one over the other. Other than that this game is classic fun. :)
Can't decide if the hotkeys are good or bad. They're close and easy to reach but I kept hitting my essence keys (usually 2 for shock) when I was trying to quickly switch to a particular gun (pistol in this case.) Next time include a way to change the key settings perhaps.
Yup, those are some stupid adventurers. It was annoying, but kinda funny too. Part of the challenge I guess. The thing that really bothered me was the music. Thankfully its mutable.
