I like how we can't just get all the songs at once. It makes it more of a challenge to win rather than just mindlessly playing. I particularly love the design of the coins looking similar to the harmful red things; it made me concentrate not only on the song but on what red-ish things I was avoiding.
If both the parents die, then the little girl practically clings to the alien and the boy always stays about five paces behind the alien. After it dies, the boy just walks off and the girl stays with the alien, allowing herself to be buried in the snow with it. Holy crap, this is a deep game.
This seems to be a game for people who have played the previous installments, sort of like DLC, rather than a new installment in a series of games. It was a nice game, don't get me wrong, but as someone who hasn't played the other installments, I felt completely out of Rick's emotional story (if that's the right term for it).
My only complaint is the ease at which the globe of light explodes. There were a few times it died when I had no idea it should have. I know it sounds weird, but I would have liked the light orb to have some sort of health meter.
I wish the butterfly upgrade would give me a full heart at the start. When I get a heart from a chest, my health bar doesn't (appear to at least) fill up. Still an addictive game, but the hearts were slightly disappointing.
I really like the concept. Some games have obnoxious and pointless stories behind them (a negative thing), while others have poor gameplay in exchange for a good story (also a negative thing). I think this, however, could use a bit more of a story. Like, why is the pacifist harming people as he goes by? I get that he's some sort of ninja, but I think it would really help as far as the logic and immersion go. I gave this one a 3/5 'cause it's a really nice concept and the game achieves that well (and I like the challenge the puzzles give), but it's just missing that important element.
At the beginning, I wanted to add a little "philosophical" story about principles and loneliness, but that was to hard to imagine and implement in only 6 hours.
