If you're stuck on the levels with the laser triangles, remember that YOU control where they shoot. Try to work out where you want the lasers to fire, so you'll have a way past them later. Be patient, they move slowly. Create a safe path, then assassinate the triangles just after they fire.
So many people complaining about the Anchor/Volcano level. A quick glance at the Best comments will solve your questions. In case they change in the next 6 hours, you drag the plankton to the vent on the side of the volcano to change their color.
This game became a lot easier to manage once I realized that you could collect a small swarm of plankton just by grabbing one and holding the mouse down while mousing over the others. Many (if not all) threats can be attacked with clicking, too.
I feel bad for the dev. Based off the instructions (which are kinda hilarious), it sounds like he's been getting a lot of undeserved flak from the players. Of course, there I was sitting at level 48 thinking "You can't possibly solve this without guessing", but I've heard people say the exact same thing about level 18. Level. 18. Poor Dev :(
Just a heads up for badge hunters, don't make the mistake I did. Choose the black spear hero Laertes, not the green medic hero Myrrhine. Healing is cool and all, but she's seriously underpowered for PVP. Laertes is basically easy mode in comparison. I switched later and suddenly started winning.
The section with the cart was quite misleading. I watched it completely ignore the direction the track was facing in two sections. Eventually I had to look it up on a walkthrough. In retrospect, my plan wouldn't have worked anyways. But I would have figured that out sooner if the game hadn't lied about the the path. Fun game, still.
Wait, people are complaining about not being able to fire shoulder weapons? Just where are you sticking your thumbs?
Unless you're using arrow keys of course, but I can't imagine why you would ever do that. I mean, you wouldn't even be able to fire your shoulder weapons! :P
For those questioning the difficulty of the easy badge (The badge of the day): The game defaults to the hardest difficulty, the so called "Crazy Channel". Just change the difficulty to "Easy Channel" and you should have no problem clearing songs. Heck, even "Standard" doesn't seem that bad for some songs. Easy seems to give two clear points, standard gives three. There may well be more to the game, but for people who were lost like me, this info will get you the easy badge.
Challenge 4 was so much easier once I gave up on controlling Sword. (The sniper weapon has a minimum range, too close and Dragon will stop targeting Shield; It will still shoot at the closest enemy when given a choice. The enemy AI is set to "Wander", so it just runs straight until it hits a wall.) Just have Sword set to follow Shield. The trick is to run parallel to Dragon's current path at a distance, ensuring Shield is in range almost the whole time. This means Dragon is already shooting Shield as Sword followed behind. As Dragon walks past, curve Shield around until it's perpendicular to Dragons path until Sword stops shooting. Disengage Shield from Dragon's range and Sword should safely follow. Set up for the next pass as Dragon is spinning around on the wall. Its ok to make a few mistakes. Good luck.
Despite all the hate, this is a fun little game. I won't be staying past the medium badge, but it looks like I'll be no where near running out of food before then. The hate comments seem to be grossly exaggerated. (Don't forget the 2x button)
Even if the "Free 250 gems" isn't worth it at all, it's interesting to note that most (read as All) of the bosses can be defeated without moving. Obviously it depends on your damage and how many hearts you have, but repeating boss 1 for gems multiple times was an easy click in between other tasks.
That moment when you get the hard badge before the easy badge.
My strategy for the hard badge was simple, punch the first guy, tap the w key until they fire. Immediately begin tapping W+D at the same time until you're out of the path of TopMid's bullet, then go back to tapping W. This will move you out of the way of the bullet from the TR guy as well as the TM guy, allowing you to stun TM and tap towards him. Don't punch right away, it fasts forwards a huge chunk of time. Wait to punch until you've just dodged the bullets, they should still be on the screen.
Then just leapfrog pistol stuns to the enemies on the right side: stun, walk, dodge, punch, stun, wait, dodge, punch and move on to the next target.
To cross the gap from right to left MAKE SURE to toss at least 1 gun halfway between you and your target. Grab a second gun and dodge as before. Walk, dodge, stun. Now dodge the one bullet+pick up the gun on the floor and stun the target again. Dodge>punch>stun>wait repeat. Good luck!
I was looking for a hint system and instead found an in-game hand holding walkthrough. Lets just hope I can resist the temptation to simply click the circles for the rest of the game :P
Do what Miner43 said. Set the Music to 0 (It's not playing anyways, right?). Something about flash not being able to load it. Myself I was able to keep the sound on with no problem- Fun game. Please + So others can enjoy the game too.
Reminds me of Snakebird, that game that came out on Steam about a year ago. Apple Worm has fewer levels and (so far) none of the interesting extra mechanics that spice things up, but this is still an enjoyable game.
I remember playing this game a decade ago. I understand where everyone complaining in the comments is coming from, it certainly has it's issues (which I've glossed over in my memories), but for me this game will always hold a small place in my heart. I especially enjoyed the waterfall level.
Oh yes. Now I remember why I never finished this game. It didn't save back then. And it didn't save once again. RIP Hard Badge. I'll find another 3-4 straight hours to dedicate to you one of these days.
I'm absolutely loving this game, it's a great improvement on the first. I like that you've added a story into the side caves. I think it would be amazing if there was some character customization, or perhaps a simple Male/Female choice. And it would be even more awesome if equipping stuff changed the way your character looks, though I know that's a ton of work.
One thing I do find annoying is that whenever I start a new run, my hotkeys reset. I'd like to be able to "Lock" a spell, a specific item or maybe even an item type to a slot (Health potions are always bound to 2, or 5 or whatever)
Other than that, great game and keep up the good work.
Loading screen fix:1)Right click. 2)Click "Settings". 3)Click the Microphone tab at the bottom. 4)Right click in the popdown menu (Note: You don't actually have to pop down the popdown menu, just right click on the empty bar). 5)Click "Play" in the right click popdown menu. Now you can play the game. Enjoy.
