Honestly, it's up to you. Some people just like building on to their city and others like starting over and getting some Cases for their efforts. Turbo Town is an idle game, but it's pretty open ended. That and climbing the Leaderboards is motivation to compete a bit too but by prestiging you will get more powerful.
Are you saying you want to lock boosts on buildings? Wouldn't you simply not remove them? Please restate if I have this wrong. We are thinking about adding some other quality of life features like a "remove all boosts from buildings". In which case your request would make sense to lock boosts on a building so they aren't removed when you click the button to remove all.
Indeed, the Monkey island series was a GREAT source of inspiration to us. :D We're glad you got that one; also, we really hope you liked the game. Let us know when you'll finish the whole series!
I would be a great upgrade if you can see on the screen the items you equip on the heroes. Like cosmetic improvements. Maybe you can pay to see them. Or maybe the items you purchase being seen at the screen only if you buy them and being available to be winned by using jewelled chests.
Under the hero portrait, in the hero selection tab, you could show the hero´s BASE DPS instead of total DPS that can actually be seen at the game´s stage.
