Perhaps the game could be good, but the abysmal text quality is really driving me away. I mean, should a game with such sophisticated graphics have such bad writing? Production Value really goes down like this.
Quite nice game.
I think two things need improval:
1) Training gives much more exp than battle. I think that killing a boss should net you a lvl most of the times.
2) I think that crit rate should work for abilities as well. I understand that that would make some rebalancing needed, but at the moment I do not like to use my double strike, simply because i feel that having the chance for a crit might be better. If double strike had ahlf my critchance attached, and omnistrike 1/6, that would make using these skills vastly more fun.
The units are badly balanced. I understand that later units should bring something special, but it is not good that the first units are nearly completely useless. I killed the boss without any problem by using some 30 Chieftains and 6 Rabble rousers (the beer guys). I did not use anything but chieftains for about 2/3 of the game.
the new shortcut key commands make the game far more enjoyable. I think it is quite good, but there is a certain problem: you either have too little or (and that is worse) far too much money. I just lost stage 20, and had 15 000 Bucks I could not spend in any way (because I had already upgraded all my starting guys to the max). I am not sure why the Money system should exist if it has very little influence on the later parts of most fights. I think the problem is that there are far too many rounds in which you cannot buy troops at all, or cannot buy troops after the first wave.
A third stage for the different characters would perhaps solve that problem, as would probably to allow buying troops in some more stages.
quite nice game. I like the flavour of your upgrade system. There are some pretty big bugs in the system, though. Especially the souls that would be given vary a lot, become even less when i upgrade something. The healing bomb does not really work. Invincible bomb + rampage seems to good a combo. Imps are a lot better than the other monsters for souls. Also, i cannot get the credit achievement, even though i have seen the credits.
alltogether 3 of 5.
Okay: Graphics are very nice, but a bit inconsistent. The minstel does not fit the intro very well. Map graphic is very nice. Gameplay: too easy, only challenging fight is the last one, where the opponent finally has cavalry. I do not like the money magnet. I pay 250 gold pieces to get a piece of gameplay completely removed? The improvements of the units are very unnoticeable. It would be nice if they got something more than just some bigger numbers. Story: a bit too weak. It hits all the cliches, but in a foreseeable and "whatever" manner. Protip: having the story told from someone who finds it boring (the minstrel) and dislikes the protagonist (the king) works in 1 of every 20 cases. And in those cases, there is something else pushing the story. Dev response: nothing short of Great. Devs answering makes me write honest comments.
I cannot see the whole screen. right side is cut off. I think this is why i cannot use the inventory. As long as this problem exists, i cannot play this game.
really beautiful graphics, but i have some issues:
the help texts overlap with the texts of npcs, and with the description of skills.
this makes the screen look cluttered.
Another problem is that the game is very small on my screen, far smaller than other games. this messes with some of the animations,i could, for example, see the intro's script scroll outside of the "visible" area.
Those faults should be pretty easy to fix. I will come back in a month or so and try playing...:)
oi, what's up with this "this game is not available in your area?" Is this some kind of joke? You make us play the game and suddenly cut support, meaning that all our hard work in getting cards is for naught?!
I have an ugly bug where cards I did not include in my decklist keep popping up in my hand. That anti-Dragon pot and the fireball for 500 are the most enervating culprits. I sold them, but this is hardly a solution. Especcially if I keep losing matches for getting crap in my hand.
Very nice graphics on the main character. This is something 2d does so much better than any 3d engine. I feel positively reminded in street fighter 3rd strike.
Now what the game needs are some more secrets. Defeating the survival mode, even on easy should yield something good. I think some option to buy something really nice at the price of 100 artifacts would be good.
The survival mode is a bit of a tedium, I think it would be better if it would be doable without the lifeleech and had some srcipted events.
Lastly, the dificulty has some quirky spikes. The beginning is easy, then 2 really difficult fights come, then it gets too easy. Collossus ad blood guard took 0 tries each, moloch only 3. Compared with crookback and chimera (both 7) this is somewhat of a letdown.
i give 4 stars out of 5, because I cannot be bothered to try the survival on hard at the moment.
I reached 100 % dodge on lvl 36 with the warrior. And I could probably got it around 32. At this point i am obviously immortal, and the game has lost any purpose. This might be the main problem: the warriors lifeleech is incomparable to anything he got elsewise, and the game gets a lot easier after the first playthrough. The first time, the demon was really hard since his lackeys hit so hard, but then the game was a breeze.
Also: the heros items are too easily gotten. I had to save money like crazy for the first, but the next were easily bought 10 minutes later. This decreases their worth a lot. They should get priceyer, probably. And I would have LOVED it, if the heroes Items had developed new abilities. The idea is very cool, but why not give them new abilitys after a time? ok, there are too few abilities for weapons anyway...
