This could be a very top notch tactics game, but there are some key things that seriously kill the experience. A lot has been mentioned, like the severe lack of organization when viewing parts in the shop/inventory. There are so many, many parts in this game that it needs some form of sorting for comparisons. Finally, if I was being honest, the actual combat part of the game feels a little sterile to me. Some great features and customization stuff you have here, but those small details I mentioned are holding this game back.
"Maybe next time you're playing a game you'll rate it more on how much fun you're having and less on how complex the upgrade system is." PURE GENIUS. You sir, get it. Overall, it was witty excellence.
Argh. This game is so well put together and presented. Its so very slick and oozing with coolness. But unfortunately, this is overshadowed by the fact that the gameplay is far too generic. The enemies aren't very creative, the level design (the gameplay part of it) is rather boring at times, and the bonus stages can be even more boring. Its a real shame, because it looks like you really put some hard work into this game and it looks oh so nice. Its not bad, just good.
Haha... this game definitely has some personality and challenge to it. Unfortunately, the physics and controls are far too loose and hard to control in my opinion. Though I understand this may be intentional, that combined with unforgiving level design made this game more frustrating at times than fun. Having a difficult game is one thing, but its feels a little artificial because a lot of it seems to come from those floaty controls.
Nice. Solid, simple platforming mixed with randomly generated terrain and those gutsy pushes to go one more floor keeps the gameplay from getting too stale. Plus, I heart the retro goodness you have going on here. :)
