Wow. This game is just not fun at all. All the buttons are incredibly small, the screen transitions are slow and out of place, and it's just an overall unintuitive game. I hardly need a tutorial when the game plays itself. I don't need hand-holding when all I have to do is collect the money dropped and use that to buy upgrades. I could figure that much out myself. I'm just here for the badge of the day. Got it and now I'm out of here.
Is that how it ends? No fanfare, congratulations screen, or anything? The only indication that I beat the final level was the lack of a "Next Level" button. A fairly average experience.
Oh, and to top things off I can't just stash collected Pinatas for later? Forget that! Maybe I actually WANT to grind a little bit. Maybe I WANT to get a few rounds in without watching a fu*king ad for 30-45 seconds. Because you know what those ads do? They pull me out of the action, slow things down, and grind any shred of fun I might have fooled myself into having just so I can watch a little Youtube video that may or may not load properly. And when I say 'watching the ad' I mean I'm tabbed out to something else like refreshing my email or whatever. Anything small because 30 seconds isn't enough time to do anything except wait and that's incredibly boring. So the fact that I can't just take whatever Pinatas I collected and toss them into a pile for later is complete bull$hit. I'll just go play the other Burrito Bison's again.
What. A. Grindfest. And somehow this is my third attempt at the game. I don't know what keeps me coming back. Maybe it was the fun I had with the previous installments of the series, maybe its boredom. I tell ya what's NOT making me come back: the endless, under satisfying grinding that we have to do just to get past the first wall. I don't hate a game for having ads, but when the gameplay is CLEARLY inflated and slowed down just to allow more opportunities for ads to pop up, there's something wrong there.
Oh hell yeah!
Got through the game without looking at the walkthrough ONCE!
I think I'm starting to get in the mind of the developer. The puzzles are starting to make sense in their weird way.
My only compliant is the long loading time between screens. It's only a few seconds, but when you're constantly resetting because you misclicked or your strategy just isn't working out the way you hoped, the time it takes to reset can be agonizing. Also, for some strange reason, level nine is bugging out for me. I keep passing it with the required number of moves, but it says I failed it and resets the board. I can't go further with this problem!
I wouldn't believe it if you told me this was done by the same guys who made Sentry Knight. It almost feels like it was done by a different team and the developers just slapped on the name "Sentry Knight" to help it along. It's an alright shooter with lots of room for improvement. The character's bullets don't seem to go beyond what the camera sees so any enemies outside your viewing range that you KNOW are there are safe as long as you can't physically see them. Being able to shoot enemies outside the camera's range is something that should be expected from a shooter, especially one where you're launching giant fireballs in their direction. Extra power ups would be nice too, including walking speed, shooting speed, and even a multiple projectile upgrade would all be nice to have. All in all, I'm kinda disappointed with this game.
Whoo! I ended the boss with a well aimed Power Shot! What a poetic ending to a fun battle.
Kinda bugs me that there isn't a "Collect All Stars" badge. That kind of thing is usually always on games like this.
Good game regardless!
I gotta say, I had way too much fun with the party creation when I realized you could upload custom portraits. So I began my quest with Cicil, the cow as as my warrior; Healbot 4000, the robot as my cleric; Death Himself as my mage; and...Willy the ranger. This party will do greatness!
"You acquired this badge in 2010"
Oooooooh! I remember this game! This game was wonderful!
I especially love the fact that you start off at the same place you eventually work your way back to. It's kinda poetic to see the impossible and come back and accomplish it like it's no problem at all.
Wonderful game back then and STILL a solid game!
