To win more often when playing the last boss in his second state: be willing to pass turns. Certain matches aren't worth the risk of giving the boss an attack, since he does so much damage. Match only attacks, shields, and rage, and try to shield yourself (even better, with a counter) if an attack is inevitable. This way you can hang out for quite a while by just not moving, allowing you to wait for the right opportunity.
